My ignition switch in my 2012 RAM 2500 is having major problems. I'll start the truck and when the key snaps back it shuts the truck off. It is getting worse though, if I go over a bump it will shut off too. The part to replace it seems to be rare and therefore it is costly. I'm wondering if I could switch to the push start switch instead. On rockauto.com that is the only option they have for my truck.

Any help would be appreciated!

Just a guess, but I think the computer will be the biggest obstacle.
That's a good point. I'll have to ask the dealership what that would cost. I just don't want to pay $200 for a part that is super easy to install myself, so if I could get something newer and get it reprogrammed for a similar price I'd rather do that.

Thank you.

You can't just switch the "switch", the push to start requires a whole group of parts to work. The link @crash68 posted above sells the kits programmed for your truck.
