I recently purchased a 2019 Ram Classic and noticed driving at night my drivers door panel switches don't all illuminate. All the controls for the windows work and light up but for the mirror controls are dark.
I would think that all buttons should light but since I am new to Ram trucks I thought I'd post the question before I investigate the possible issue.
The controls for the mirrors do work just don't illuminate.

I believe you have to purchase a switch from a Cherokee. PM me if you are interested in purchasing one. I actually bought one a while back but didn’t realize it was for the newer rams. Mine is a 2014 and the connections are slightly different from 17 and up I think.

Yeah its not broken, just how it is (FWIW most of the vehicles Ive ever owned are that way, too...not just FCA products)

As @LoadedExpressRam said you can get the correct "all lit up" part, there is a thread about it somewhere in the forum. I did the mod to my truck, too, just because I was able to get the switch pretty cheap.

I've always hated those switches being so hard to see at night! I had no idea there was a fix! Gonna look into this!!!

Glad I visited this thread!

I didn't see the lack of illumination until I attempted to drive into the garage one night, and I have a habit of folding in my mirrors to pull into the garage: don't ask me why, it brings back bad memories... but I think this is something I will look into.
Is this a modification to my current switch or does it involve purchasing a new one?

Like the link posted by Greygoose, part number is 68319803AA

That is a single connector switch for a 4 door truck....I dont think there is an illuminated mirror switch for a regular cab. The older trucks use a double connection switch, so the part numbers doesnt work for them either, but since you have a 2019 (I assume a Classic?) that switch will work.

Its like a 5 minute swap....get a plastic trim removal tool or even maybe a popsicle stick, pry the existing window switch up and out of the door panel, unplug it, plug in the new one and snap it back in.

Correct on having a 19 Classic, 4 door. I will check it out.
sounds like pretty much the same thing as what I had in my prior GM vehicles. Switch panels pop out and a simple plug and play replacement. Found one on flebay

Thanks one and all. :happy160:

Do yourself a favor and just get the mopar part listed above. I bought that Chinese one you linked (different seller, but probably same Chinese factory knockoff). It didn’t sit right in the opening, and was loose. The left/right mirror select buttons don’t operate same as OEM- either one or the other is always selected. The illumination is more of a green than blue, and each switch was a different shade of that green.

This.

If you arent in a rush, Ive seen some lightly (or not at all) used OEM ones come up for $50-60 on Ebay.

Jimmy07 and Chrisbh17 have it right. get and OEM one. I too purchased the Ebay Chinese one and the auto up did not work. Waited for an OEM one to come up (4 days) for $62 and it works perfectly. As the old saying goes, the time to buy it is when you see it rings true for these on Ebay.

I wonder if there is one with the illuminated switches for the older trucks that does not have the silver trim ring... Anyone happen to know?

I *think* the silver ring is in the armrest itself.

The switch part number that everyone posted matches the original switch from my Big Horn, which does not have chrome accents.

What about the rams that have the 2 plug switch? I ordered one but its the single plug i guess for newer generations. I have a 14 ram 1500.

Same here, a 2014 with the 2 plug switch.

Since those connectors are yazaki, and converting the two plugs into the one plug would be too expensive with Yazaki suppliers minimum order quantities, you’d be better off just getting the door harness from a 2016+ truck along with the switch- https://www.bamwholesaleparts.com/oem-parts/mopar-front-door-wiring-mopar-68263823aa-68263825ac

I did cancel the eBay order as it was coming from China. I'm not happy with them right now so no money going that way.
I am having some difficulty in pulling up the part online. One site keeps asking for vin to confirm part will fit. Well, that's not gonna happen since the part I am looking for is for another vehicle.
