My trim on my '17 is in pretty good shape so I've been using the 303 stuff as well as several others. Is there some non-water based product that will not run off down the side of the truck after a dew or light rain. From what I have been reading it is because they are water based. I wipe off any and all excess product as well.

My truck is black crystal metallic so it shows bad and I am tired of getting the truck looking nice be either leaving the black trim to look like crap or the areas under the drivers/passengers door and the sides of the bed looking like crap in 1-2 days. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Unfortunately, 303 is one of the worst for this. It's great inside, not-so-much outside. For something OTC, I've had good luck with Megs Ultimate Black Plastic Restorer. I also like Surf city Garage Black max. I'm sure Adam's Black trim Restorer works well.

When I read the title of this thread, I thought it was going a whole different direction.....
In todays politically correct world, any way you go with it, you could possibly offend a religion, a gender, or a race. Maybe even fit people because not running is a requirement. Well done sir.

Carpro DLUX and Solution Finish will both do what you want and they're both excellent.

Turtle wax black plastic restorer is a non-starter. I've tried it and it never lasts beyond a light rain. Going to check out some of the suggestions above. Thanks!

Looking at Adams, but $100? Anything in the $20 range that works?

Lol. I find the really fat protestants don't run if that helps. On exterior vinyl I've had good luck with most brands of automotive leather conditioner. Seems to stay shiny even after a couple washes, but I haven't tried it on the plastic. Accidental the first time after doing the interior and leaning on the bottle while it was on top of my tonneau. By the time I wiped it up it was just as easy to do the whole thing.

I read somewhere (and on YouTube) that you can use ATF and/or a heat gun to restore the flat black plastic trim. It's the oils in the plastics that, over time, evaporate & dry out the plastic leaving it like a grayish or faded color. Using the ATF, you reintroduce those oils back into the plastic restoring it. And even a good brand bottle of ATF is pretty cheap.

Chris fix does something like this with a heat gun. It’s not a permanent fix. It will look good for a month or so and dry up worse.
