I cannot comprehend, with current gas prices and the crazy amount of self-important slime bags around, how manufacturers do not include some form of locking gas cap or a locking gas filler door. This is gross negligence in my mind.
I wonder if the same manufacturers include this feature across the pond, like they do with the sophisticated alarm systems that we North Americans are excluded from.
I've had locking gas caps on every vehicle I've owned since the early '80s, even the beaters.
I was very fortunate that when I mentioned this to the sales manager after signing for my Ram truck, he handed me a Mopar locking gas cap; he said he wasn't sure where it came from, but I was welcome to have it.
The online price for a Mopar locking gas cap seems a bit steep, but I would bet there's a cost-effective aftermarket solution.
