went to the dealer today and they quoted me a three hour "labor" job to install the factory remote start system which would bring it around $400... :shakehead:

I know I can get the kit for this outside of the dealer and have seen it fairly reasonable online. What kind of job is the install for this? I don't mind paying them to flash it but if I can save something by doing part or most of the install myself then I would DEFINITELY like to go that route.

It's more involved than previous years. The back seat needs to be removed and I believe the headliner. You should be able to find the instructions online.

I considered the factory remote start option, but ended up buying and installing the Fortin Evo-CHRT6 kit. It's cheaper (even when buying the flash module), has more features like alarm functions, can add on RF kits for longer range, and was super easy to install. You only have to splice 4 wires and the harness does the rest for you. It works great.I would skip the factory option in this case.

It is not hard to do but it will take about three hours. Instruction will come with the kit.

I looked into getting the factory remote start but decided instead to get the Compustar Slice Jr. 2-way (RF-2W1B-SP). Cost me $375 all in and only took an hour for the guy to install. Better range than the factory remotes, 2-way confirmation and cheaper.
