So I've turned wrenches most of my life, rebuilt my share of vehicles, built dirt track cars. I seem to have lost my skills over the past 10 years working in construction. I've got some stupid questions on my install of HIDs.

1. What is the best place to mount the ballasts on an '05? I'm just not seeing it anywhere. Directions say mount them in the engine bay. Gee, thanks. On the driver's side there is NO room. The passenger side I would have to drill the frame and not really looking forward to that.

I would mount them on the core support. There is a spot on both where the ballasts will fit perfectly. I am going to try to find my pics from my old truck...........gimme a few here!

Thanks for the replies. I figured out my problem. It's about 90 degrees in my garage. Fan only blowing hot air. GF sitting upstairs watching the race. Now I am too. Did I mention I hate wiring from existing?

Mounted the ballasts to the inside of the frame rail. Drivers side up above the horn. Passenger side opposite that. Ran out of zip ties. I like them too. Mounted the 'power block' to the driver's side inner fender. Power wire makes it to the battery positive no problem.

Next question. The 4 resistors - they just run to ground correct? Can I ground them in pairs?

Just because they're plug & play doesn't mean the installer is.

yeah, you can ground them together.

Just make sure you don't put them resistors on plastic. Mount them on metal!

Great. And thanks for the pics guys.

So far I'm very happy with the kit. Good quality. Great service. However, a wiring diagram of some sort with an explanation would have helped. RF being here to help as overcome that. Thanks.

I think I've got just the place to mount the resistors. Inside the channel across the front. It's got drainage, large openings for air flow and easy to get at.

I've got a feeling this is going to be a double install. Install it this time and see what I can do better later.

OK, I've got nothing except a bulb out light. I've checked and rechecked the wiring, re-did the grounds, promised much truck lovin' and still nothing.

Help!!!

You're using the wiring harness that it came with right?

Gave up for today. 4 hours of checking, re-checking, pulling out, putting back in, and still nothing.

I did find 1 wire not in a connector when I did my last run through on the harness. Probably me. I'll have to order another from Todd.

Anyone have pics of where they installed the resistors?

Plug and play yes. Working no. Not worried though. From EVERYTHING I've read the customer service is great.

The customer service is great. My resistors utilized a factory ground attached to the drivers side frame right behind the drivers front tire. Just unscrewed it, put em on, and screwed it back on.

Depending on the ballast, I wouldn't mount them near the grill like that.

Make sure water isn't getting to them is what I mean to say.

Both of my ballasts are mounted directly behind the headlights on the cross that goes over the back. 3m sticky tape and just plugged em it and stuck em up.
