Who is great at stereo installs and is willing to help me install everything when it comes in? I will pay for your time. I know the basics but I just want a really clean install

You will want to say where you’re at unless your willing to travel across the country to get it done.

I know the voices in my head aren’t real, but man, do they ever come up with some great ideas.

If you got everything at crutchfield the instructions are very easy to follow. Good luck

I got my radio and all gear needed to install it from crutchfields. It took me about a little over a 1/2 hour to install and I think it turned out pretty good. 7758265224355b7ee535ef74914b35be.jpg

That’s what I did. Got everything from crutchfield plus door speakers. I need to know if I need heat shrink tape or resistors for the door speakers.

No resistors for the door speakers, just the dash speakers. I used the adapters so it was just plug and play from the speakers to the factory wire harness. When I bought my door speakers from crutchfields they came the harness adapters. Did you get 6x9’s for the front and rear doors? Crutchfieldssays the 6x9’s don’t fit the front doors, but they do with a small spacer. I used some 3/4” foam weatherstripping just because I had some handy. It worked and it gave a good seal between the door and speaker when I tightened the mounting screws down.

I'm just curious. I have the 5" radio. My radio has some options for the truck that are enabled and disabled through the radio IE eco light / reverse mirror tilt etc.. . Are those options still there? I would assume not.

I had the same crappy radio in my truck. With the idatalink modules all the oem settings are still available using the new radio.

If you didn't get the adapter pigtails, and plan on cutting the wire and using female quick disconnects, all you need is some heat shrink to make it secure, and look good.

A recommendation I have is to get a roll of fabric wiring harness tape, such as found here https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LYZDN2X/. Use it to tape any harnesses or bundle of wires to give a "factory" look, very clean (this tape is not electrical tape). It also helps to keep any wires from rattling inside the dash or doors.

Crutchfields normally includes the adapters.
