Hello, I'm interested in installing a toggle to bypass the clutch safety switch so that the truck can be started without pressing the clutch (like older Tacoma's and such have). I would rather do this than permanently bypassing the switch. It's an 01, 5 speed, V6. If anyone has done this, could you kindly share how you did the wiring?

Thanks in advance!

I would think you could just short the clutch switch wires together.

That's definitely an option, but I would like to keep cruise control functional, and from what I've read simply splicing those wires together makes CC inoperable.

I have a 1975 Plymouth Duster with a three speed manual transmission and back in the mid 80's I accidently ran it out of gas on the five southbound in Burbank California. I was in the fast lane when it died and I couldn't move over due to traffic to my right, so I came coasting to a stop in the far left lane. I felt like an idiot sitting there, but then I remembered that my clutch safety switch had failed, so as soon as traffic lightened up a bit I was able to use the starter motor with the transmission in second or third gear to get the car off to the right shoulder and out of traffic. It's not what you had in mind but I like your idea.

I wired in a momentary push switch and for some reason it's not working. I should be able to hold the switch down, start with no clutch, then be on my way. Can't for the life of me figure out why it won't work.

is the clutch switch normally open with the pedal up or normally closed ?
They make momentary switches both ways so possibly the wrong switch OR is there more than one switch?

I forgot to tighten the leads on the switch side and one slipped out. All good now :)
