Did you get this figured out Sir ?

3ea wires from the connector near the brake pedal to the radios C-1 connector 31 , 32 & 33 ?
Yes we did. Just waiting on the harness from M2Mods and I'll be up and running. Fingers crossed. Both of you were very helpful.

Edit: The above Esky Camera is causing interference with the rear Tpms sensors (433mhz) on my truck (2013) and had to be disconnected.

Finally knocked out the last half of my front camera install (almost a month later).

Updated my Front camera Install post (1164) with my issue. http://www.ramforum.com/showthread.php?p=1464930

Need to find another Camera to test.
Not sure what Front camera @cptwing and the few others who installed one have used. Looking for feedback.

Can you purchase the front cam separately from CustomTronix?
Yeah, I can. Just don't want to pay that much for it, but I might anyway.

I have a 2017 that the dealership I bought the truck from forgot to mention to the other dealership that installed the service body/utility bed to include installing the camera.

I now have no idea how this is suppose to wire, no instructions, just going by what they tell me, which depending on who you talk to, is opposite of what the other guys are saying.

the dealership is suppose to be sending me a complete kit now that I've called 4-5 times. they at first only sent the back up camera. the Mopar number is similar to part number :56038978AK. its a back up camera with two connections come out of it, one two pin connector, and one 4 pin conntector.

my problem is I do not know what or where these two connectors plug into, or what the connectors look like, or what the color code for the wires are.

my truck already has the back up camera in the rear view mirror, just missing some wiring, and no clue what all I'm missing, or how it hooks up.

anyone who has done this, would you care to post.

thanks for the help.

If I can get this done I'll try to post photos.

I've been told I'll have to take it somewhere to have the back up camera programmed, I was thinking it would work if I just plugged it up.

So I have a few questions hope some one can answer:
1. What's the signal from X970 X971 X972?
1704141939570128.png
2. Where does the OEM camera get power from? The PDC or other places?
3. How does the RA2/RA4 know to switch to rear image when shift the gear to R? Is there a trigger wire for reverse?
Go to post #10 here , there are links to the oem install kit there that answers your Qs .
I'll try

1)970 ,71 &72 are the inputs for the backup cam to the radios C -1 connector ie ..sockets 31 , 32 &33.

2) Pwr is from the PDC (F-95 ) 10 Amp fuse .

3) reveres signal circuit is opened via sales code Flash XAC ( I believe ) not sure where the oem trigger actually is .

**Note**
The active grid lines ( OEM Kit ) is opened via the BCM C-5 CONNECTOR socket # 45 .

**Note**
I'm not sure how you would install an aftermarket BU Cam kit to the oem radio ? I've only installed the oem BU Cam kit with the oem radio . If you plan to keep your oem radio I suggest installing the full oem back up camera kit .

Post # 10 here has a wealth of info

Hope this helps !

I will try to be brief with my limited time to answer ...
On an RCA style composite video cable:
Camera signal= center pin
Camera return= outer shell
Camera shield= braided outer shield/3rd conductor for noise reduction (not normally on most RCA cables)

There is NOT a dedicated reverse trigger for the factory Backup Camera. When in reverse the Canbus tells the oem radio to enable the video input for the camera.

To use an aftermarket camera with the oem radio, you may need an interface module from PAC or Crux. Can it be worked around, probably.

Don't use the Taillight for a reverse signal anywhere. The truck monitors the current draw and you will have issues. You can safely pull the reverse signal from the trailer Connector.

Going from either an aftermarket camera/OEM radio or oem camera/aftermarket radio isn't really the scope of this thread. It would be best to start a separate thread.

Edit: There is always this pre-made Ra3/RA4 Audio Video cable kit...

I really hope you are not simply here on the forum to promote this Chinese crap radio manufacturer and it's website (edited) that's based out of Shenzen China.

That's exactly what he's here for. All of his posts are him hijacking threads to post links to his crappy Chinese radio.

He's gone now.

@00R/T
I edited out the link/quote so as not to promote that crap in any way.

PS: thanks for helping with GrayDiesel's 4 speed conversion issue. We are going to send him some stuff to try and get more info with. Hopefully we can find out what's different.

New to it all...

Hi all.

Just bought my 2017 SLT 2500 big horn yesterday and it came with the 8.4 uconnect but no backup cam and i really wanted the cam!! After reading tons of this thread I called my dealer and asked them if they could pull the wire schematics and check if its a quick plug in play. The parts guy said... looks like your going to need a bunch of stuff to get this to work... then said he would call me back, and i have yet to hear from him again.

Ill let you know how this goes...

Good luck Sir , looks like you may need to install the whole kit ....
No worries unless something major has changed for 17 it's a pretty easy kit to install !

Check the post about the IP body connector by the brake pedal. Pins 17 18 &19. Of they ohm to the tailgate harness you won't need the whole kit. That's how my 2500 PW was. You will only need the tail gate parts, y harness, and radio harness from mpgrimm.

The connector in the picture is located under the bed almost center just a bit to the drivers side all the way at the tailgate , it's partially blocked from direct view by the spare tire ....anyway if you only have two wires there like photo #1 , you need the whole oem add on kit .
if you have 8ea wires like photo #2 then you're in luck as far as the long body harness goes .

Hope this helps !4465bcfc389beec1e7019f236a05e370.png603e47db1305ef0d54c0d628a7640d33.jpg
