Is it worth it to pay more for rotors?

I'm trying to decide between duralast rotors ($40 each) and centric premium rotors ($80 each). Thoughts?

btw, I'm putting on Hawk LTS pads.

Thanks!

Grooved rotors get rid of the OEM 12k wabble, shake, and scorching, thats all i know, trouble free here for last 3 years, you do get what ya pay for!

I would say go for the premium rotors. Never go cheap when it comes to stopping a vehicle. Check out Moe's Performance and see what he has to offer. He has some nice quality rotors for your year and make.

I went with Auto Extra rotors (301-AX53012) and EBC pads(UD965) recently..and couldn't be happier. Spend the money on the pads as the rotors are going to be the same (assuming same material).

Try to find rotors made in the U.S.A. Anything chinese isn't worth it. Especially when you're slowing down a 6000 lb truck.

I really don't like chinese knock off's. I saw a program where a NYC taxi company was buying chinese replacement brake parts and when tested they found the knockoff's were coming from the same factory that the OEM parts were being made. Seemed the factory was contracted to make say 10,000 units for a US company and actually made twice that many and put the over run units on the market at a reduced price. My question is WTH is with a OEM part being manufactured in china on a US vehicle.

I've bought many Duralast brake, suspension, and drivetrain parts over the years, and I must say I'm getting kind of turned off by them. They just don't seem to hold up that well, at least for me. If you just need to keep it on the road long enough to trade it off or find something better, than Duralast is OK. If you are keeping it long term pay a little extra for a brand name. However, I have been fairly impressed with some of the more upscale Napa brand brake and suspension parts.

We carry some nice brake pads and rotor kits for all kinds of vehicles. I'm running our brakes on everything from an S10 Pickup, (2) Grand Cherokees and a supercharged Mustang. They've held up great for me.

Here's a link to our website if you would like to check on pricing. Tony

I worked at Napa for almost 10 years. ASE certified parts specialist etc etc.

I never had a set of the 'good' rotors returned, ever.
The 'economy' rotors on the other hand, I'd say I'd get a pair back a month.

They might work, I don't think Gen IIIs are particularly hard on brakes / rotors, but I'd highly suggest spending the extra on quality parts.

I bought a set of cheap rotors and pads to get my truck on the road a year ago. Now the rotors are warped, and the pads sqeek. Spend the extra money and buy good parts.
