Is the valve spring/spring seat blowing engines real?

I Had a 5.7 blow at 140k. I've read that the spring or spring seat has an issue that causes it to blow the engine, I now have holes on each side of the block. Supposedly replacements and 2006 models have been fixed, but dodge won't recall any existing ones.

But the guy who is selling me a rebuild engine says that's not a real thing. I'm not so worried as the replaced parts will should solve the design issue. But I would like to know, is this real? if I had replaced them before 80k miles would my engine not have blown (assuming its not a different reason).

Some 03-04 trucks had weak valve springs. If they break, it drops a valve and destroys the engine. Somewhere around 05-06 had lots of issues with the valve seats. If they dropped it would cause about the same damage

All that being said...I have an 03 hemi, and 05 hemi and an 06 hemi with a combined mileage of about 440,000 miles, all on their original heads and springs.

With my 03 heads, I’ve had the truck overheat before when I had a blown head gasket. That’s normally when they drop a seat. Nothing happened. I even took my heads to my machine shop and had them test them. They put the heads in an oven and heat it up. If they drop out, then they didn’t have far to go. Mine were all good after the test. So it is hit an miss
