I currently have the 5.0 touchscreen. TBH, I don't see that it has that many features over any other stereo really. So, I'm wondering 3 things...

- Is there aftermarkets that fit "well" in the 5.0 hole?
- Is there aftermarkets (not the 8.4) that would provide more features than the 5.0?
- Would aftermarkets still work with my steering wheel controls and handsfree mic stuff.

The answer to all 3 is YES! You have a vast selection to choose from, just a factor in what you want feature wise.

This is the thread I started, but not much feedback.

I know with an aftermarket headunit you would have to get the proper harnesses to allow the steering wheels control work. I chatted with Crutchfield a few times to see what was all need.

I did purchase a harness to make the 8.4n upgrade 5.0 to 8.4n 4 speed blower to 7 speed blower), but I don't know if I'll go that route. It seems like it's been hit or miss lately with the upgrade.

Correct me if I wrong, but you lose control of some of the setting functions without the factory headunit. You need a maestro idatalink to have them functional.

I put in a pioneer double din dvd player and can't say I miss anything. I used the axxess 6493 nav harness (or close to that). The usb port in the console does not work and I can't find a cable to make it work. Was told by metra that since I have the aux and usb side by side, there is some module linked to the truck's usb. Songs don't show up on my evic but I use that for speedometer anyways. There is a dash kit that makes it all look stock. Should be lots of posts on how to do it.

If you decide to change it out, make sure you set your door locks and stuff the way you like first. Using the maestro stuff might be different. That seems to like Kenwood stuff.
