"At cost plus 2%" or similar offers like "employee pricing". Are these any good or just a gimmick compared to what you could negotiate on your own?

It really depends on the dealer invoice.

Just curious because in Canada we don't get those 20% cuts of sticker the whole auto industry here collude to price gouge customers. At least in most of Ontario anyway.

I do have a perk from the military that gives dealer cost plus 2% here, but I haven't investigated what the average dealer cost is around here yet

Ah... now I see how we're getting screwed up here. I just found out the dealer true cost on a $50k msrp Laramie is only about $4000 less in Ontario. I guess it's like many other USA products sold in Canada where our government trade agreements suck. Your true dealer costs are way lower in the US, lucky ********.

So it turns out my job perk will save me a few thousand, but if RAM Canada has a nationwide special on, I can usually save anywhere from $5000-10000 but they only ever seem to offer those on select models (which are usually unpopular ones of course!)

My brother lives in FL half of every year, maybe I'll just get him to help me buy down there when I'm ready to buy again
