Noticed what seemed to be a wind-related rattle at highway cruising speed yesterday - coming from somewhere near or below drivers side mirror. Stopped for a quick look and noticed one of the screws/bolts that go around the outside of the fender (attaching the wheel well liner to it) was missing. Movement of the black plastic liner was causing the noise I figured.

Well, went out today and looked properly and I see there are 3 or 4 empty holes in each front wheel well. Is this normal? Now I'm wondering if they are meant to be blank for adding factory flares or something? Even less sure about the rattle...

On my 2012 I'm there are a few holes missing screws but I don't get a rattling noise while driving. It might be where the fender flares screw in to, but I'm not sure

I looked at your profile info before I read the post and thought you posted in the wrong section.. lol Congrats on the new truck.
My 2012 has a few empty holes in the wheel wells, but no rattling.
I'm still chasing a very subtle vibration in my center console or radio bezel, since I installed my backup camera.

That's what I get for fixing things that aren't broken. :yucky:

I would push or tap on the inner fender and see if it rattles or move. That should tell you if it is properly mounted or not.

Yeah, doesn't seem a lot of movement from tapping, but when getting buffeted when driving into a headwind at 110km/hr could see how it might move or vibrate a little. Just curious how many 'missing' screws are normal?

Will get round to changing my sig, promise lol

I'm missing one screw in each front wheel well on mine. Both right about 2 o'clock when facing the wheel.
