Hi guys...I had seen some conflicting information about being able to install a subwoofer behind the rear seat in a 4G crew cab Ram. I decided to try it out for myself, and thought I'd post up my results. I can confirm it is possible to get a subwoofer behind the rear driver seat in the Crew cab Rams (at least in the 2014 Sport models).

Below are a few pics:

Remove rear seat:

Test fit Alpine SBR-s8-4:

Install and wire up amplifier/line output converter (I tapped the factory sub wiring):

Reinstall seat (pic under rear seat when lifted):

Finished product (seat doesn't fully lift, but you can access under seat storage and with force, get the fold flat floor out):

Note that I did trim about 1/2" from the rear seat hooks so that I can get access to the sub if needed, but that may not be required.

Enjoy!

Is that the highest the seat will raise after the install? Do you think if a thinner box was used or if the seat risers were installed would the seat function as it should. I want some subs but don't want to give up my storage bins. I have an old JL 250/1 itching to thump again. Very good write up thanks

If you cut out the rear felt cover there's another 2" of space that you could move the box further back and there'd be no interference with the seat then. That rear cover costs about $100 if you ever want to replace it.

Nice, I wondered if I could fit my box behind my seat but never really gave it much effort as I usually have my toddlers in the truck with me anyways... but the amp and sub have been sitting in my workshop untouched for a year now, I might try it again!

What are the dimensions of your sub box?

Curious about dimensions as well. Been contemplating doing this but haven't looked too far into it.

Curious about the Sub box size as well, I have a wedge style box that would love to fit back there also.

Thanks guys...sorry for the delay in answering the dimension questions. This enclosure is 19-1/4"W x 11-3/8"H x 6-5/8""D.

That is the highest I can lift the rear seat, but it's enough to get to the storage bin.
