Did a lot of serching and found so many mixed answers so i figured id post this. Had my local dodge dealer ship install the mopar remote start keyless entry kit in my 2016 tradesman (none express) that came factory with the oldschool hard keys. Even though the directions say vehicle must have factory keyless to install it dosnt it workes on mine. They had to update the computer with keyless code remote start code change the rfh module and add the antenna for remote start thats it.

By keyless, are you talking about keyless entry or keyless, push button start?

Old School hard keys?

I have a fob. Plastic thingy, no ridges on it at all. Has a valet door opening key , that does have ridges but that key will only open a door. Not start the truck.

Remote start is different than keyless start.
Keyless is a push button start.
Your FOB stays in your pocket, you never take it out.

Not quite understanding what you had added.

The key that is inside the fob will start the truck. If that didn't happen, how would you start the truck if the fob battery died?

Read your owners manual sometime. You'll learn a think or two.

Just push the start button with the end of the fob to start the truck if the fob battery is dead.

It's keyless entry, meaning you press the unlock button on the fob. Remote start, as in starting the truck with the fob. You still insert the hybrid fob/key into the switch when you get in the truck. Keyless enter & go is the whole touch sensitive door handle with push button start.

I've been thinking of adding the remote start to my truck...comes in handy on cold mornings...and hot days. I really miss the keyless enter & go that was on my 2012 Charger. Put keys in pocket and no more worries.

Correct. Keyless entry and remote start. I'm not sure that was worth $600.

True, I was looking at the Mopar kits which go for around $220 or so. The directions don't look too bad, but still requires a dealer to activate, so add another $100 dealer fee if you can do the actual install.

Yeah this confirms my fears: no reasonably economical way to add push button start after the truck is built. :(
