I'm thinking of doing a CAI but in the meantime I might just buy a K&N drop in.
Should I just wait until I can swing the real deal? Are there any advantages to a drop in short of the obvious?
Thanks guys.

Thanks!

I'm with them. No point in spending money twice for the same mod.

I have a drop in k&n and I haven't noticed any difference over stock filter, maybe a slight increase in mpg

The drop-in K&N tried to kill by CTD!!! But I've had them in gas engines and they work well. I'm with everyone else - just wait until you can get what you want so you don't have a million mile filter sitting around doing nothing.

I had the same thought as you and bought the K&N drop in before I got my CAI and really didn't notice a difference. I should've waited...you should too IMO.
