Key won’t turn forward

I just bought an old 1st gen Cummins and I can get it started since the key won’t go forward all the way

It’ll go back and the radio will come on but when I try and put it forward it seems like it won’t let me, does anyone have an idea of what my problem could be

HAVE YOU SIMPLY twisted the steering wheel forward & backwards. I've had that Issue before & If the key will go in top & bottom Turn the key upside down. Sorry I don't recall if the key work only one direction or Both ways .
& I've also seen newly made keys Not function like the should .

End result I'll bet a new key switch will fix it .

I have one that gives me a bit of trouble. I have to push on the rod alongside the column for it to catch/activate what it's supposed to. It's around the 9 o'clock position or so.

Did it start at anytime that you have had it?

I'm trying to remember if the old valet keys would only go to acc and not full start.
