Hi All

I’ve been having a hell of time installing Kryptonite Upper Ball Joints on a 05 Ram 2500, the lower ball joints went in fine with no issues.

So here is the issue… when the upper ball joint is installed and torque according to spec and sequence the steering knuckle will not move. When I say it will not move, it literally will not move at all even with a pry bar and hitting it with my biggest purse … Has anyone had this issue?

What I’ve noticed is the there is zero upward movement in the new upper ball joint when installed. When the ball joint is not installed the pin of the ball joint moves up and down like it’s supposed to, but when pressed in…zero upward or downward movement. I checked my torque settings and repeated several times and still no change in the stiffness in the knuckle.

Since I purchased the set for both sides of the vehicle, I tried the second upper ball joint and same issue - pin of ball joint would not move and steering knuckle would not move when torqued to spec and sequence… I had to get my truck back together and put a Moog upper ball joint and had zero issues.

Will be calling Kryptonite and XDP (where I purchased)tomorrow to figure this out.

Any info you all have would be appreciated. I’m stumped…

I suspect "Kriptonite" is a euphenism for "cheaply made chinease ****".

Well, kryptonite makes Superman powerless.....lol

Will be interesting to see what mfr. has to say.

Good luck.

Nevermind, brain fart. One post in March, no follow-up. I absolutely hate that.
