That sucks, but at least you've got something. I'm currently on hold with my **** as well, totally at a crossroads for storage with this freaking 5-7" bed. Like it's ridiculous pulling my bed box out every time I need to use it as a truck. But I'm a foreman and need to have tools at my disposal, and I like to have emergency tools as well. So it's like wtf do ya do. Ballsssssssss

Just but another truck like I did ;) but I hear you I want a toolbox for my trucks but I'll lose bed space. First world problems :D

How much does one of those Lietner Designs run a US guy in the US? The system that autoedits Jay is running. That thing is sweet.

P.s. Quad cab 6'4" is better :bleh:

1400$ and it's literally a lumber rack on steroids made aesthetically pleasing. Plus when I looked at it they listed it didn't fit the 5'7" bed. I was gonna chop and weld a harbor freight rack, and I still may, but I need a headache rack asap. It's the time of the year I use my truck as a truck and this window is begging to end up blown out.

The pic is the rack I'd chop up and the end goal. It's about 300 at harbor freight so no love lost cutting and welding that thing. 525cfe7a52f6120650005eb29ee91bba.jpgaf796b8756db9d550ba96bb07b92bedc.jpg

Bed space is a premium with this truck. I just wish there was something easier than wrestling the 200lbs of box out of the box. Sticky fingers mean I need it hard mounted and locked, but when I need to haul **** it's a process getting it back out...i really might just get a trailer at this point. Idk fml

Thats a hard no for me. Ferrari of storage racks.
******* guy is made of spare parts bud! look at the exploded view of it, there's nothing crazy involved or special. My grandpa looking rack will morph over the summer as time allows. Paying a premium for creativity and them to do the work for me isn't worth the cost, so I just post an idea, wait for you guys to shoot ideas and critique and put it to reality.

A few extra supports, a track system for tie downs, some storage tabs and boom, a rack. Id like to see if I can squeeze the soft topper under it, thatd be the bees knees

I need to register for a beginner welding class at one of our local community colleges. Revit told me about the classes and prob the closest school I have. so I’m checking those options. I can’t afford not to know how to weld hahah especially in the RAM market, I know Add takes pride on what they do but dear lord I’m not paying fracking $2k for a damn bumper I don’t give 2 rats if the pope made it.

I’m also looking at racks options to fit on top of my softtopper. Softtopper sub contracts the work with another company and they have a rack for it for $549, but it’s rated at 250lbs only and it could look a lot better if they really wanted lol. I need to be able to do this myself, but I need to learn how to weld first :)

Go on YouTube. No joke when we cert in class there's a few videos that the guy really helps out with what exactly to look for when learning to weld. Running stick vs mig/innershield vs tig is all totally different, yet fundamentally the same. It's honestly pretty easy, if you lived not across the country I'd help you out.

Welding tips and tricks < search that guy on youtube and just dabble in everything you can find. Learning it is invaluable down the road.

The rack I grabbed was cheap enough and not the ugliest out there so it's a starting point. I need the headache rack more than the carrying capacity right now. Down the road I'll look into making it into an overland style rack. For 200$ i cant *****. Hell I still may go with my original plan and get a full ladder rack to chop up and weld, and retrofit my window protection into it . I'm terrified to blow this back window out and almost did on Saturday so that's priority 1. I'm really trying to keep my weight down, I didn't realize how much my bed box weighed, has to be closer to 300 lbs loaded, my rear end is about 1/2" higher.

I ordered a some Amazon goodies, 2600lm led reverse bulbs, a new welding lead for my welder for upcoming projects and that cheap rack. Function is priority 1, kayaks and stuff don't require a cool looking rack so for now, grandpa truck look will do, I want a bumper first anyways [emoji41] hopefully mid to end of April I'll be pulling the trigger on the barricade bumper they just released.

Nothing is impossible when a guy has the will and tools. Hell I built a company that way

All it takes is time, an idea and willingness to put the time in. I don't have a bender so getting a foundation to work from takes alot of time out of my equation. Now I need weather to break and things will roll.

I hear you on the weather. Bur I used a bunch of homemade machines. I might even buy a metal 3d printer. I use the plastic ones for molds

Well guys I might (99%) move I've been staying in TX for a bit and like it here as I grew up here. So I wouldn't be able to do anything for a while. I have some employees working on the bumper. With a rough estimate I could do a winch pre-runner style bumper with a max capacity of a 12K winch for about $425 (for forum members) shipped to the lower 48. It would weight MAYBE 300LBS at the max.

Pictures of this would be wonderful. I know you're playing it safe with rough estimations, but boy do I have a hard time believing it'll weigh 300. I had a huge ranch bumper on my 2500 that didn't weigh that much.

Once I figure out why Cad is working I'll gladly post them. None of my bumpers were that heavy but I also go really high :D

ICIonline just posted their Baja series bumpers and steps are 40% off for the entire month of April!

Code: BAJA40

That brings the front bumper down to $1011...

Can't decide where I wanna spend money next!

I also want new brakes...Rear arms and track bar...and eventually an up-size in tires (and new wheels to go along with them). The bumper is sweet, but it doesn't have recovery points (although I can grind my OEM hooks to fit probably), no licence plate mount (I guess I can just bolt it on anywhere) and I have to spend even more $$$ on lights!

I have the same problem as Hodge mentioned in his build thread...the more I mod, the more I will probably thrash it off road! This is my DD and the truck I will rely on for family road trips etc for years and years. Baja bumper on the ol' reliable vehicle? Seems like it could go horribly wrong. Hahaha!

In the end, $1000 is $1000. It's both a lot of money...and a great price for a cool bumper. What to do....
