L bracket underneath

I was wondering if anyone could tell me the purpose of the L bracket that goes from the floor pan (1 bolt) to the rocker panel (2 bolts). It is toward the front of the truck.

Is it the bracket that is in the way of you installing side steps?

I believe so. The reason i asked is because i was removing my side steps and i was working quick and took the bolt out of this bracket. It was right above my front sidestep bracket.

I just installed a set of steps yesterday on mine and didn’t see any bracket like that.

It's appears that not all trucks have this bracket mounted on left side just in front of the side steps. I have seen trucks with and without the brackets.
