Leaking heater core - temporary bypass?

I am out of town and suddenly have a substantial leak from the heater core. The carpet on the passenger side is pretty wet and dripping onto the ground through some drain hole.

As a short term fix, I’m thinking of cutting the heater-bound hose and looping it back to the water pump.

Is there any reason to believe I couldn’t do this on my 2010 RAM 1500 5.7L?

If you have a set of hose pinchers or vise grips (if using vise grips tape the hell out of the jaws),just clamp off the hoses to the heater core.No reason to cut and loop them.

Definitely. It'll work. Common field-repair.

Fix it later when you have time to organize it.
