Looked in the back and water was dripping off the headliner onto the back set. Ruining my Sunday!!

Is this cause if the 3rd brake light? Would think not since of where the leak is. Ive had a recon smoked one in for 3 years and this is just happening now. Anyone with this issue ever find a fix??

Is your satellite antenna right there? It is on my 2010.

Probably the 3rd brake light gasket has failed. Take it in to dealer if still under warranty. They replaced the one in my Cummins

I'd take the third brake light off and see if there's a dirt trail indicating water flowing past the gasket. If it is leaking use some BD gasket to make a new one. I did this on my truck about 2 years ago and it's been dry since. @Burla has a thread on how to do this.

On my truck the satellite antenna is on the driver's side and I can't image that would be easy to get to without removing the headliner...

I certainly hope they have the third brake light leak figured out on the 2019s.

Right, OK. Check the 3rd brake light first for the leak, then go to my headliner removal video DIY on the 4th gen forum that will give you eyes-on detail for the headliner removal and zoom in on that antenna and 3rd brake light from the inside (if needed). If it is the antenna, you can clearly see the problem from the underside.

Good luck!

Temporarily tape around the light with packaging tape so no more water gets in until you can fix it for good

Thanks guys. I threw a tarp over the roof for now. Will use the packing tape till I have a chance to run the silicone.

I was just outside, it has to be the Sat antenna, either that or the seal on the door. Have it all covered with packaging tape for now.

Just found a guy with the same make and model and year, and same issue:

Hope it helps someone else!

Will do, for now taped around both the 3rd brake light, and also the satellite antenna just for now so the water stops pouring in.

I have black caulk I have used on the windows, mite try that instead of the silicone so if I ever have to remove it, it isn't a big deal. Any negative thoughts on that?

Don't know, but RTV sealant (irrespective of color) is what you need. Good luck with the repair!

Third brake lights leak on every single vehicle i've ever known. The original gaskets are made of junk and will leak. Not a case of if, but when. Remove the light, clean the gasket, and make a good bead of silicone to seal it. I've had them leak on truck roofs, SUV tailgates, and trunks on cars. All different brands, all different ages. They probably leaked on taillights for years but if we only had a trunk to deal with we probably never realized it. Now with third brake lights it has become more of an issue.

Added a small layer of RTV right where the antenna meets the roof. I will replace the gasket and add rtv to the 3rd brake light. But its the Recon one and I have had it for 4 years now with no issue. Based on where the leak actually was on the headliner I'd be surprised if it was coming from there. Will replace it regardless but want to make sure it was the antenna first.

Dave, I recommend just doing the antenna area first. Let it dry and then take a hose to the location. Only if I saw it still leaking would I bust the seal on the 3rd brake light, leaving well enough alone.

Good luck!

Ya thats the plan. So I put the rtv silicone on the antenna 2 nights ago and its still a little stickey... should it be or does that mean it didnt dry properly.

FYI rained all night and still raining today. Not wet anywhere. May still go back and change the seal on the Recon light because I did order the weather strip that was recommended here but, its been 3 years and no leak so then again, may leave it alone. Thanks for everyones help!
