so i have been stuck on where to mount my 42" curved light bar . i removed my tow hooks and cut flat stock steel to make a place to mount to in the hook pockets the bar is pretty slim and fits tight against the bumper . i was also thinking about cutting out the center of the bumper to make it more flush. any thoughts ?

Hi Cody,
I just registered on this forum and saw your post. Nice job! Looks like it was always meant to be there. I have some additions I want to do to my truck but it will be a while before I get to adding any lights. When I do they will probably be to light up the rear. I need to mount some antennas for Emcom and I'm playing with some ideas to get it done with out drilling holes in the roof or fenders. Just the idea of doing that makes me cringe.

Cody, seriously ... what's a Serio 5000 for? The antennas I'm mounting are for two-way communication. They need to be clear of the cab so the signal can "get out". The only body mount that would work would be on the cab and I'm still not happy about putting holes in my truck. I'm thinking about getting an inexpensive headache rack. I don't load up the bed with much stuff very often and its always secured well. So I don't need it to protect the rear window. It would however be an ideal place to mount the antennas, and perhaps some lights if I get to that point.

I have one in mind, but I'm sure the guys that know anything about them, would get a chuckle if I mentioned it. I've looked at the "good" ones but the sticker shock took my breath away. I'll have to modify anything I put up there to get exactly what I want. I just can't see spending a bunch of money on something then cutting it up.

I just Googled "Serio 5000" and the only thing I came up with was a printer. I'm sure that is NOT what you are talking about.

You don't find the cab causing a significant loss of signal? I’ll have to check that antenna out. I’ve been away from ham radio for a couple of years but CB for a very long time. Just getting back to both.

The roof magnet mount definitely is a better position. I still get some good range out of it on the fender. The down fall of my 5000 on the roof makes my clearance 6 feet higher

That’s my problem too. 2500 4x4 plus the length of the antenna I already can’t fit under the carport
