Does anyone have any experience using their LED low beams as DRLs?

I’ve got a 2018 Tradesman with reflectors, shortly after buying the truck I found AlfaOBD and enabled DRLs on the low beams.

I recently had a low beam go out and thought this would be a good time to upgrade to LED so I purchased a set through Underground Lighting because the bulbs say the are DRL compatible in the specs on the website.

Once installed they work fine as the low beams but flash then turn off when attempting to use them as DRL. I tried changing the low beams to LED in AlfaOBD, but there is no change in how the lights behave.

I’ve looked around online and the common solution to this issue is to move the DRLs to another lamp. Since the low beams have the largest reflector I’d prefer to keep them as the DRLs and as I change other lamps to LED to match I think I’ll run into this issue again.

Thanks for your help and have a great Labor Day weekend.

In Alfaobd I believe you can change the output voltage for whatever the DRLs are set to. Sounds like the LEDs you have require more voltage than what the truck is putting out for DRLs so try to up the voltage a little bit at a time until they come on. Might only have to up it .5-1volt....

Try setting low beam to HID rather than led. That should bring the voltage up.
