UPDATE, Problem Found! - So I gave up and took the truck to a highly regarded brake shop. The issue was indeed a THIRD bad caliper from AutoZone. Turns out the piston bore was painted like the outside! They removed the paint, honed the bore and reassembled it. Works like it should now. For sure I'll be in touch with AutoZone management for refunds and the cost of the brake shop work!
Hello All. I am stuck here and looking for advice. Stepson's 1997 Ram 1500 has the left front caliper sticking. In the last 3 days, we have:
1) Replaced the caliper (3 different ones, all new)
2) New flex hoses last year and again this week
3) installed 2 different new sets of pads.
4) Tried to release any pressure at the bleeder, flex hose to caliper, flex hose to the frame hard line, frame hard line to the proportioning valve and proportioning valve to the master cylinder. NONE of these had any back pressure when opened, just a normal flow of fluid.
This particular truck is 2WD and only rear ABS. The right (pass) side caliper works as it should. It is feed off the flex hose to the left caliper (see pictures). So, you would think anything effecting the left side would effect the right side as well....What gives?
Looking for advice of what to try next or what has worked for someone else with this same setup and issue. Thanks!
