Definitely need to invest in some air bags. Other than that it tows with lots of power to spare. Sucks gas pretty hard when towing but that's to be expected.

20190115_113842.jpg 20190618_131544.jpg We pull a JayFeather 24T low profile with torsion bar axels regularly with our '18 1500 CC 5.7 Outdoorsman 4X4 with Airlift 1000HD bags and a 9" drop hitch.
2 of us with 4 40lb dogs, 3000w genny, 112 litres spare fuel and too much extra cargo.
No problems and not too worried about mpg driving 60 and under without rocketman acceleration and anticipating slowdowns and stops well in advance.
All the stuff is in there except me

This is my set-up with my '97 1500. I still have that truck, 19+ plus years and still going.
I will post some pics of the trailer hooked up to my new '17 2500 CTD that I just bought.1106150819-00.jpg It will be nice to see the difference in towing power!

Do you know why the tires blew

Yes, the trailer sits in the Arizona sun for a few years and the tires dry rot and run low on air. The boat stays in a slip. We were aware that the tires might leave the rims, it was not a surprise. It was just wishful thinking that we could use the trailer that one time to fix the broken prop and then store the trailer again. Oh, the trailer stays a few feet from the water, water front propertyish. With 3.55's and 35" tires it was fun and interesting. The truck has and is under construction since then.

FF2B30F3-2751-4340-A240-5EFE735D9DA1.jpeg Finally got a pic of our newly purchased ‘18 with the boat. And my truck and the Jayco kind of photo bombed Black Betty.

My wife is loving the new truck!!! She said it did great towing our ‘19 Scarab 215 ID (just under 5k lbs).

Maxed the capabilities of Thumper but the 6.4 towed it without issue to get my tractor home. Saved $$$$$. Would not do it daily or long haul but for local transport it did just fine.

Just got a pic of my new set-up. Trailer is a 25 ft Mallard, truck is my "new" 2017. Trailer might weigh in at about 8,000 lbs max.
Towing compared to my old truck is like day and night. I can hardly tell I'm towing it at all. Got a camping trip planned in 2 weeks so I'll get to see how it does towing up some real mountains.
Towed the same trailer with my brother's 2004 Cumins that had 250,000+ miles on it and was amazed at the power.

Head to your local RV dealer website and do a search. The choices out there are mind blowing. With a bunk and a private bedroom entrance, you'll be looking at around a 30' trailer give or take a few feet. A quick search of only one RV dealer near me came back with 43 trailers with a bunk house and two doors. Happy hunting
