I just bought my 2012 Ram 1500 4wd Outdoorsman last saturday. I'm interested in a front end level kit. Im worried about voiding my warranty. The warranty book is very vague about what does and doesn't void a factory warranty. has anyone had a problem with dodge honoring their warranty after installing this mod? what kit do you all recommend? thanks for your responses.

Welcome to the forum!

I have a 2.5 inch hbs leveling kit and it doesnt void any warranties, and makes the truck look more aggressive! i love the way it looks even on stock tires and wheels. HBS probably has the best pricing on leveling kits IMO. Good luck man, and let us know what you decide!

I put a 2" ready lift in my truck I don't believe they could void anything on your warranty over it. if you don't feel right with it you could go with bilstein shocks and level it that way. good luck:gr_grin:

the dealer ship can only void the warranty if the issue was a DIRECT casue of the mod. They also have to prove it and it can't be an a+b+c=z type of thing either.

You could also check and see if your dealer will do the install. That way if there are any problems you could kindly point out the fact that they put that mod on.

I would not recommend the 2.5 for the Outdoorsman. I have a 2011 Outdoorsman, and did the 2in HBS level with no problems thus far.

Reason for recommending NOT the 2.5:

I have the Airlift bags in the back (+0.75 in @35psi)
I have a heavy steel pipe bumper on the front (-0.25 in over stock)

My truck is basically level right now, and if I let out my airbags it would definitely be level. I think if I had gone with the 2.5 I would have squat in the back even with the bags full. I can take some measurements tomorrow if you want wheel center to fender flare numbers.

I doubt there is any difference in ride height between trim models. I have an express with a 2.5" HBS level and still have a slight rake. As far as warranty I don't know I'm just guessing but if something in the front suspension would break I would bet warranty wouldn't cover it if they knew the truck had a level. But anywhere else they wouldn't bother you. IMO

The Outdoorsman has a different strut that is longer than all the others. It is the same strut that used to be used in the TRX models. This is why most of the lift companies exclude the Outdoorsman from their LIFT WILL FIT lists.

You can swap to a normal strut if you want to do a big lift kit. In this case though I think you will find that the 2in spacer fits your needs just fine :)

I will say there has been a lot of debate about the struts in the Outdoorsman models, and whether or not they are actually longer, and my truck sits just as high as the Outdoorsman, and blah blah blah.

However as I said, I only did the 2in kit on mine, and it is definitely level, even squatted without my airbags being full whereas most people are perfectly level/still have very very slight rake with the 2.5 in kit.

Its hard telling, and not every truck is going to sit the same even if everything else is the same.
