i think it was somewhere around $56. give me a second n i will post a link

Alright cool, so 200 for the set? And ranching is a pretty high end brand that will last a while right? I like not having to slow down for all the speed bumps! I do slow down for the big ones that are almost like curbs but the little ones at school I can just go over. What are those thing called that go over the shocks? They come in different colors

i have a set of leveling keys installed on my truck and the rancho rs5000's arent the top of the line shock rancho makes, it is still a good one. i would buy them again. with them installed its a fairly smooth ride. i have aggressive all terrains on my truck so still not the best ride. and dont worry bout the speed bumps. unless they are really big, you'll notice it but its not that bad. and the "colored things" your refering to are shock boots. they help prevent mud, dirt and water from gettin onto the main rod of your shock as well as from it gettin inside the shock. keep in mind they only "help" not full proof. and you can get them in various colors (red, black, blue, yellow, etc)

Alright thanks I will look into those.

I mostly wanna get those shock boots for the looks for my red truck. Oh and how hard are shocks to install? I've ever done them, seen them done or thought about doing them.

really easy to do. one nut on top and one bolt for the bottom. the aftermarket shocks i posted will bolt up in the same locations as the stock shocks, its just the ranchos i posted are 1)better than factory and 2)made for lifted trucks

when i ordered and got mine in, they came with the red boots already. you can buy other colored boots if you want them. i think they are around $3.50-$4.50 usually. just depends where u buy them from

if your fairly new to workin on your truck i would suggest- 1)have a buddy that is fairly good at working vehicles help you or 2)go to autozone or your local autoparts store and buy a repair manual(haynes or chilton) for your truck. i know they cover a wide array of stuff including replacing your shocks. if your wanting to learn more about workin on your truck i would strongly suggest one of these to help you. i even refer to mine every now and again for wiring diagrams, etc. i would also suggest lookin on here in the TECH INFO or 3rd GEN DIY. if you have anymore questions feel free to ask. if i cant answer them im 100% sure someone on here will know the answer or know where to find the answer. thats why i like this forum

I already have a chilton that I use on everything that I do pretty much. It's gonna be about a month I would say for the new shocks but as soon as I get them, I will update this thread! But I will probably wait until have new tires so everything will go down in one day, level, new shocks, new tires and alignment. Thanks everyone!

I went with the Pro Comp ES3000 series from 4wheel parts and was happy with them. I think that they were around $40 each. You might save a little more if your go with their 3100 series.
As far as how you level your truck its really up to you.
Crank the stock keys for free. Keep it at 2" and you will be problem free.

Or spend $100 on aftermarket keys, $200 tools to install them, and you are still at 2" of lift. Granted they will allow for more than 2" of adjustment, But you don't want to go beyond that if you want your front end to be problem free and you don't want to drive a brick. I have cranked many stock torsion keys over the years and installed one pair of aftermarket keys, keys that were removed shortly there after.

Either way you will need an alignment and longer shocks.

Hahaha yeah I see what you mean. How can you know when you haw lifted 2"? Do you measure from the corner of the bumper to the ground then keep doing it as you raise it or is there a more accurate way?

The easiest and most accurate way to measure is from the center of the fender arch to the he bottom lip of the rim. Doing it that way will eliminate any variation of tire pressure/height...

Gotchya and I will mark it where I measured from the first time so that there is no margin of error hopefully!

Good luck bro. Remember to take a spin around the block before you measure....

To let the susppension "settle" after being liftd off the ground. ... Doesnt hurt.

i agree. if you dont your measurements are gonna be off. it always takes a lil bit of drivin for the suspension to settle

So my ball joints need replacing because they make a horrible squeaking noise hen the truck rocks or shifts when I turn the wheel. So before I ge an alignment I need to replace those. I think I remember hearing it's about 100 each side so I will need 200 for that, x amount for tires, think I'm gonna buy some used ones with about 75% of tread on them for now. Alignment will cost around 75.

Oh and I found some shocks at my 4 wheel parts store, they are pro comp not sure what number or type but they looked it up and said I would need 18.5" shocks and that for a level all I would need is the front 2 shocks for now, does this all sound correct? They are 40 dollars each

all u need is 2 shocks for now if your just wanting to have it leveled and not top out the shock. i would suggest replacing the rear shocks as well before long. having all shocks replaced will vastly improve the ride.
