Hey everyone, new here, I recently bought a 2004 ram 1500 with the 5.7. I fixed up a few issues I came across, but the truck has been going into limp mode recently. No engine lights come on when it does it though. And 99% of the time it happens only once, usually within 5-10 minutes of first starting it in the morning. The rest of the day its fine. I can not for the life of me figure it out. Hopefully someone here might be able to point me in the right direction. Thank you!

Engine or tranny limp mode? I'm only familiar with tranny as that's all I recall being talked about here and what I've experienced. Codes on these trannys are scarce it seems. Through two failures with numerous limp mode episodes leading up to them I received a grand total of one code.... after the tranny was completely toast and I had to drive it off the freeway. I lost all forward gears and had to back into a parking lot to get off the street and a code finally flashed. Thanks, yeah.... I realized there was a problem :)

Let us know which limp mode and maybe the model of your tranny if that's what you're asking about.

Very rarely, but every now and then my 2005 w/545 will throw a high pressure code and go into limp mode. It usually does it first time I put it in Drive in the morning. It only takes me a moment to pop in my cheap little code reader and clear the code and all is well again for several months. Code PO869 if memory serves me right. HTH
