Looking For A New Truck

Friend of mine near Ft with, AR is looking for a truck. Had a Ram ordered for almost a year and the order got canceled. Here is the criteria:

1. Regular cab,
2. short bed,
3. 8-cyl gas engine
4. no electric door locks,
5. no electric windows,
6. anti-lock rear differential,
7. high ratio/torque rear axle,
8. trailer tow package.

No bells and whistles, huh which is the problem. This is a work truck, to be used as a truck.

So where is it?

Can you even get a Ram with crank windows and manual locks? Might be better off to add those. Can't effect the cost much, not likely to give you any trouble with failing.

The rest of it should not be too unusual.

That would be a 4th Gen. Maybe they decided not to produce it. 5th Gen 1500 RCs are not available. ("period" in case you didn't get it)

I drove through the McClarty-Daniels Ram lot in Bentonville, AR yesterday, just because I was going by anyway. Lots of 1500's.

You could get the ram classic in a short bed single cab up until a month or so ago. Both Ram and GM are dropping those this year. Ford will be the only ones to produce one in this configuration next year. TFL had been looking for the same truck for a few months and finally got one of the last ones a couple weeks ago. I am looking at getting a GMC single cab short bed for a work truck and have found a couple but they have more stuff on them and only the 4 cylinder turbo motor.

No, he's looking at other brands now. Big stocking point is trying to get a V8.

I did end up buying a GMC Pro model but it had about all the options you could get on that model plus the dealer had added about 8 grand worth of stuff to it. I got them to throw most of the add ons in for 2K. They do have another equipped the same but they added a 3 inch lift kit to it and not some of the stuff I have. Problem is they both have the 2.7 4 cylinder Turbo but with 430 ft. pounds of torque and 310 HP it is pretty fast.

This is my opinion only, driving a 5800 lb truck or more, with a lil 2.7 pushed turbo motor, I dunno. If it was the 3.0 Duramax, might be doable. U would have to floor that 2.7 to pull any decent sized trailer, but what do I know, I's a Boird.

They will make a 2 door long bed

Wonder why if it is a work truck, why would he order a 3.21 rear end

Turkeybird56 I have a power wagon or a 2019 ram 1500 if I need to pull a trailer but the little GMC is rated to tow 9200 lbs that is more than my PW is rated to tow and it has more torque than either of my Rams. Dave Smith Motors had a short box ram 1/2 ton about a month ago so you might check there.

Not looking for a truck, just posted info ref thread. MY 19 is perfect, low trim level, no bling, same motor and trans as other more highly trimmed rides and, I have the "Pink Slip", yea.

My son has a ‘22 Silverado with the 2.7 turbo and loves it. Lots of acceleration and torque and MPG is really good if you keep your foot out of it.
