I used JBL Club series in my trick and it made a night and day difference. What can do you have on your truck? You should have two 3.5” speakers in the dash plus 6x9’s in each door. The front doors need a small spacer for clearance with aftermarket speakers. I bought mine from Crutchfields. When you buy from them, they include the harness adapters so you can hook up your new speakers without cutting up the factory harness to do so. The harness adapters are very helpful on the dash speakers.

I know the voices in my head aren’t real, but man, do they ever come up with some great ideas

I've thought about doing this as well and am audio ignorant. When would a change from the factory amp come into play?

Yes, I put 6x9’s in the front doors. I liked them so much I also put them in the rear doors of my CC. I paid $129 for them last summer. They are money well spent. They made the stereo sound much better. I then replaced the head unit this summer and they sound even better now.

Eventually I’ll add a powered sub to help round out the sound.

Do you plan on keeping the oem head unit?

I used some foam weatherstripping I had to create a little bit of a spacer on the fronts. I used that just because I had it. Others have used mdf to make 1/4"-1/2" spacers.

I didn't use bass blockers on the dash speakers. The OEM speakers are 8 ohm, but the new ones are only 4 ohm. That made the new dash speakers a little brite, so I added a 4 ohm resister to the speaker to get it to sound right since I was still using the OEM head unit and wiring. The dash speakers and the front door speakers are tied in together. so you should be fine without bass blockers, I am.

These are the resisters that I used. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B016UFGN0Y/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

When I installed my dash speakers I used a harness adapter to connect the speakers to the OEM harness without having to cut up the harness. I took the adapter, cut one of the two wires, and then soldered the resistor into the adapter to reconnect the cut wire together. I then installed the adapter to the harness and speaker. This is what the harness adapters look like. x12071039-f.jpg

Either wire would work. It would sound a little brite. The highs would over power the rest and it would be annoying to listen to. You can try it without the resisters and see what I mean. Its not hard to install and then uninstall the dash speaker when using the adapter. I believe you would be happier with the resister inline. But you can hook it up without just so you will know what it sounds like without it.

I installed Infinity Reference speakers in mine. The 9632ix's are a nice 2-way speaker (6x9) and come with spacers. Or bump up to the 9633ix which are 3-ways.

The 3032cfx are the 3.5"s for the dash. I didn't use resistors or bass blockers.
