2023 Ram 3500 6.7 65,000 miles first time diesel owner. Still has stock DEF system and it is full.
First time driving it the other day I got a few miles down the road and I had a total loss of throttle control, not just a bogg that I could tell, it seemed that I had no control over the rpm at all. Then it came back when I went to turn around. On the way back it was driving normal then started doing it again. Could this be TPS, APPS , TVPS, or ECM? And if so where is all of this located? My brother in law said it could just need force regeneration but I couldn’t see it just leaving me a sitting duck like that. Did a high idle for a while couldn’t get it to regen.

The only light I have is traction control and message says service stabilitrack. Lots of codes in the history but won’t let me clear them.

I picked this up wrecked from the auction but it wasn’t hit hard no air bags went off or anything engine related just a bent lower control arm and a track bar. Just body damage.

Thanks in advance.

Well, better than loss of Bladder Control.:Big Laugh:

My take, if you have a ton of codes that are stuck in the system, I would take it to a good diesel shop and get it checked. It might have been damaged a whole bunch more than you think it was. Unless you know these pickups very well, you could chase your tail for a long time figuring this out.

Your brother is guessing, if there was a problem with the DPF needing to be Regen you would have a CEL and most likely dash warnings to drive the vehicle or see the dealership pertaining to the DPF. Since you have multiple codes and the crash history of the truck I would suspect a damaged wiring harness and/or plug.
Most likely reasons you can't clear the codes is the CANbus security gateway on all Ram truck 2018 and newer or they're persistent codes that clear once the fault is resolved.

could be a damaged speed sensor , stability control light, simple voltmeter tests can be done

I see the OP was last on Wed this week. Would be interested to hear an update from the OP as to what he found on all the codes etc.

Throttle is not related to force regen that is electrical issue or issues check fuses before you do anything
ECM left side middle of engine block you will see square type aluminum part this is ECM Picture and C1 connector. Check throttle intake valve connector and sensor electrical voltage continuity voltage drop after that if it ok check from ECM to Throttle sensor same electrical tests if it ok last stop TIPM(Total integrated power module) to Throttle sensor and intake valve connector if all voltage means all tests ok you have to replace Throttle sensor completely means sensor motor is going done. Including connector even if you say ok. But my way I will replace because this connector and cables working over heat. When you checking all cables continuity suppose to be 00.2ohm if you see 0.03 and over you will get problems soon not to far because intake or throttle connected many cables share the line up to EGR BYPASS.
If you need help let me know No need force regen your brother doesn’t know anything. And of this work you need need good scanner equals Witech2 dealer stuff. Or Autel MAXCOM 908(commercial) which is access auto aut with J2534 or same think with Launch PAD V or VI because you’ve to clean event data and for Throttle learning 2020 after all Rams configuration getting from Chrysler.
Have a nice day.

First thing I’d check is the throttle position sensor.
