My 11 4x4 quad cab with 6 speed and 3.55s gets 15 around town and routinely gets 18+ mpg on freeway at 80 + mph.

I run a 91 octane Diablo tune with the fuel trim leaned by 5% for speeds over 80 mph.

I have a 1977 chevy fulltime 4x4 with a 350 auto and a 4 barrel carb that gets 12 mpg and less if the wind blows in the wrong direction.Technology can be a good thing.

I was more pointing to how/why your mileage is better than those with the 8 speed and 3.21's. On the highway the latter should be getting better mpg but 20 seems to be about the max on average. Still good though.

I calculate mpg as miles ran strictly on a stretch of mostly flat interstate with no other averages factored in from city driving at that time over about 100 mile + distance. If I travelel on and off expressway and around for a few miles here and there it will average 20 to 21 max.

These trucks are a mixed bag of *****, fo sho. I had a '13 Laramie 4x2 w/ 3.55 rear and 6 speed, totally stock, and the best I ever hand calculated was 17.7 mpg. I don't beat on my trucks either. My friends '14 Big Horn 4x2 w/ 3.21 and 8 speed is just a plain ole **** sandwich. He gets around 16 mpg highway. Stock truck. My current '17 Sport w/ 3.92's I've gotten 21.2 highway, and even got 15.3 while towing my bass boat 300 miles.

Every thread about MPG just proves there's no rhyme or reason why one truck can get great MPG and another similar config is a *************.
20 to 21 is about right.Mine will mostly but on some interstates I've gotten as high as 24-25 mpg.Lighter takeoffs from a stop with this truck seems to help increase mpg more than most vehicles I've had
