I have a 2016 Ram Sport Quadcab 4x2 with 5.7 Hemi, 8-speed and 3.21 rear gearing. It has 16,000 miles on it and using the truck's fuel calibrator from mile 0, it has gotten 12.5 mpg. I have twice measured it myself after trips on the interstate and even then it managed only 17.5 mpg while on cruise control. The dealership's service dept. told me there must be something wrong for it to get that low an mpg but all they do is connect a diagnostic module to it which doesn't show any problems. I'm totally frustrated at this point, especially since the warranty expired in April, 2019 and would appreciate any help you guys can offer to me.

Do you have over sized or AT tires? Lift kit, Carolina squat, etc? 6spd or 8spd auto and what gears? 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive? All that stuff could play into it significantly. My completely stock 2 wheel drive 8spd auto 3.92 geared truck get a little over 15 in town and maybe 18 on the highway. A set of heavy 10 ply over sized AT tires could very easily knock that city mileage down in the 13's.

Tide, you don’t comprehend well, do you?
Read the first post again.

Al, I’m not totally sure what’s going on with your MPG. You’re at the low end of acceptable, so to speak. Here in the east, with a lot of hills and humidity, we simply don’t do as well on gas as out west where the air is thinner.

Where I’m at, Marathon gas is usually good for an extra 1 mpg. Other than that, the usual maintenance stuff is what guys here will tell you.

A head wind will cost you a couple of mpg. I quit trying to squeeze that dollar. It’s an exercise in futility.

How fast do you drive on the highway. I noticed that if I set my cruise 79 or faster, MDS doesn't turn on and I never get the eco light on the dash and my mileage suffers, usually between 13 and 14. If i set it at 78 or less, i get between 21 and 22 depending on where I get gas.

With the mods I have I am getting mid-20's MPGs. Most of my driving is highway, 60-65mpg. I reset my trip A odometer and mileage computer every time I fill up. Earlier this evening I filled up and I drove about an hour from a nearby city to get to my house. Again 98% highway at 60mph and when I got to my house my mileage calculator said 24mpg.

Mods:
AEM Drop In Dry Filter, MOES 87mm Throttle Body, Corsa Stainless Cat Back, Pedal Commander, DiabloSport Trinity T2, HEMIfever tuning, TeamRX Catch Can, PUP Full Synthetic 5W-30, FRAM Ultra Synthetic Filter, Belltech 965SP 2/4 drop, Hellwig Sway Bar, Satin Black 22"x10" SRT 10 Replicas, Nitto N420S 305/40R22, Retrax Pro MX Tonneau,

12-13 mpg is what I averaged before the supercharger. I get about 10mpg now.
I don't know how people are getting some of the mpg's they are claiming they get.

My 2010 with 5 speed and 3:55s at 70mph Highway, I average 16.5 and 14.5mpg combined. All I run is a level kit and Diablo 93oct tune.

I can run between 60 and 65 with a quadcab hemi 6 automatic and on flat interstate I'll get 24.0 to 24.8 mpg easily.Everywhere else it's 16.5- 17.5 consistently.Fresh tune up etc.

My question to you would be regarding driving habits. I had a similar situation when I got my hemi. You need to drive her carefully to achieve better mileage. I found that I can influence by almost 5 mpg by being a bit more aggressive. Be gentle with her for the most part and then be rough only when she needs it.

I wish I could get 20mpg, but then I realize that my wife’s 2019 cx9 turbo gets 24hwy. I give up on mpg now. Gunna spend the money one way or another.

On my 2018 Sport, 4x4 regular cab and a whole slew of mods I can get up to 20 MPG still, but normally only hit 18-19 in combo driving. We'll see how it runs when my supercharger is finally finished this week though!

Do you do a lot of stop-and-go less-than-30 MPH driving? Or maybe lots of 80 (or higher) highway driving? If so, I could definitely see that low of MPG.

As others said, A/T tires, lifts, etc. all effect it. My commute is a bit of stop and go, but I can do 40-ish most of the way with many blocks between lights. I get about 1-2 MPG better than you in the winter.

One thing that may hurt you is I believe they just started switching to winter gas, which has more additives in it. Supposed easier starting/easier on engines, but less MPG.

Those are insane numbers especially with the 6 speed.

I have a 1977 chevy fulltime 4x4 with a 350 auto and a 4 barrel carb that gets 12 mpg and less if the wind blows in the wrong direction.Technology can be a good thing.

These trucks are a mixed bag of *****, fo sho. I had a '13 Laramie 4x2 w/ 3.55 rear and 6 speed, totally stock, and the best I ever hand calculated was 17.7 mpg. I don't beat on my trucks either. My friends '14 Big Horn 4x2 w/ 3.21 and 8 speed is just a plain ole **** sandwich. He gets around 16 mpg highway. Stock truck. My current '17 Sport w/ 3.92's I've gotten 21.2 highway, and even got 15.3 while towing my bass boat 300 miles.

Every thread about MPG just proves there's no rhyme or reason why one truck can get great MPG and another similar config is a *************.
