LSD's

Hi guys, 3rd gen owner here. I was told to see if you all could be of some help.

I am hoping to go to a salvage yard soon with some of my tax money and try to find 4th gen seats for my 3rd gen ram. I was thinking while i was there i could look for a factory LSD unit and pick it up for relatively cheap. Does anybody know how to tell if a truck has one, without popping the cover off the diff?

1) look for a tag or barcode on the housing/axle
2) Jack the rear up; if tires spin same way....LSD, if opposite....open

I think you pretty much answered your own question there. The tag on the diff housing/axle. Or jacking the rear end up a spinning the wheels would tell you.

If there's no tag or its not legible , I'm not so sure spinning the wheel will tell you with certinty? With Tq/load required clutches in the 4th Gen differentials.

Use that site. Go to equipment listing under the your vehicle column on the left. Punch in the VIN number and it will tell you everything that is on the truck, including if it has the anti slip rear axle.
