LT Header Install

I have read thru all the threads about headers and so forth, but I wanna ask if there will be any clearance issues with my truck? Will things needed to be moved around and so forth? I'm debating on whether or not to get the exhaust shop to install the headers, or to get the bf to do it. He had the exhaust shop install his headers on his old Z71, and they had no problem. But anyways I was just wonderin if there was any clearance issues I need to be worried about... thanks in advance yall

They are a tight fit but if you get the right model for your truck there shouldnt be any trouble...only problem i can think of a small tab on the transmission might be a bit in the way but it can be cut off.

most manufacturers make kits specific to vehicles now, so if you find a kit that is specific to your 04 hemi single cab short bed then it should mount up with little to no issues

Are you going with pacesetters or another brand. I know mine had issues with the O2 sensor on the passenger side, had togrind down the **** and pound in the floor board to fit right, also the trans tab needed trimmed, and the alignment spacer tab on the passenger sside tire needed trimmed. Other than that they went in with no issues

I just bought the Hedman Longtubes. I'm gonna wait til Fri when I get paid and also go ahead and buy the electric cutout and I'm gonna buy a 2 chamber muffler and take off my single chamber racing muffler that way once it's all on my truck, my truck won't be as loud with cutous closed, but once I open them, it will be a considerable difference and be awesome!! Should have it all installed not this weekend but next! I can't wait!

Basically doing the same thing I am. Haha. Glad you posted this topic. Are headers hard to install with some hand tools and time? Plan on doing all of that in the next weeks.

Sweet! I read thru a lot of topics about installing headers this mornin and from what I gather it's about a 6 hour process. Hand tools are all I have. Shouldn't be too big of a hassle... but whenever doin somethin to the truck, it has to fight a little... or else it wouldn't be the same!! Hahaha hopefully all goes smoothly. I'm goin to try to find a DIY

Its basic work ie: just a few bolts and removing the old header logs and putting the new longtubes up and putting the bolts back in...simple enough but there is little to no room to maneuver

if you do it when the exhaust is warm its alot easier

Make sure to get stage 8 locking bolts and new gaskets

Pick up a 180* t-stat too, you're going to need it if you don't have one already

Did you pick up a new y pipe too? 3" collectors won't match up to the stock setup

I didnt get a y-pipe, figured the exhaust shop would make one... how come I need to change my t-stat?

Lt headers cause you to run lean at WOT, in my case it was causing a lot of STKR or knock, and when it knocks it cuts power, so the 180* t-stat Will add fuel and get rid of the lean condition which gets rid of your kr

Also make sure they do not weld the cats or the y to the header collectors or you will be kicking yourself later on

Also, I found where yall were sayin not to weld it to those spots lol thx for remindin me
