On newsstands now, one of the mags - Car & Driver or Motor Trend - have a compare with the F150, one an ecoboost the other a 5.0. Very interesting article. Everyone (on the Ford side) rave about the ecoboost and it's power etc. Well that 5.0 was right there too. They still picked the eco, but the 5.0 was just as good. It has 385 hp now, that's right at the Hemi power level. I hope Ram takes notice and offers some sweet options on the new design, a nice 430-450 hp goal would seem reasonable and realistic I would think. We can all dream about a 6.4 475 hp option, but that's just what we want, Ram will do the cost effective things. Just hoping they see the competition and choose to make a good bump. If history shows anything, whatever engine(s) they go with, it could be with us for many years to come. How long has the 395 hp version of the Hemi been here??? I'm actually asking.

That 3.5 ecoboost is a beast. Easy 120+hp gains, stupid amounts of power when you start replacing hard parts.

One of the reasons I didn't buy one is fear of falling down the MOD rabbit hole in yet ANOTHER daily driver.
The Ram has a lifetime warranty so for me that's a lifetime of bone stock, performance part free living.

I'll say this about the ecoboost. We have an 11 ecoboost flex awd. I did basic mods dp, cai, muffler delete turned the boost up to 20 psi and a e85 tune. The baby hauler is easily making 485up/496tq on a very mild tune. I have been impressed with the power of the 3.5 eco. I do however give my wife a run for her money from a dead stand still. If y'all want some good laughs look up flexs running 11s and 12s on YouTube.

I drove the little 2.7 Ecoboost and it hauled ass. My Pentastar has plenty of umphh for me though and all the added complexity in that engine is a real turn-off to me. I don't like the start-stop, the direct injection nor a turbo. I want a truck to haul stuff for work and to get me as economically as possible for a couple hundred thousand miles down the road without a $5K repair every 18-months. I bought the RAM for that very reason.

I test drove a 14 ecoboost awhile ago and it was very impressive in stock form. But I will say my hemi/3.92/8 spd combo easily is just as impressive, and sounds better to boot. But a tune on the eb is a totally different animal

that doesn't exist. 3.7 naturally aspirated, 2.3 turbo, or 5.0 naturally aspirated are the only engine choices for 2015+ mustangs.

And speaking of the 2.3 eco boost. I think they have one in 10s with very little mods on E85.. ****** crazy how much power they can make.

I looked at a ecoboost before the RAM but I wanted a V8 and 11-12 5.0 didn't seem that great at the time. Atleast in the F-150.

Also keep in mind the F-150 is all aluminium so it's way lighter than the last gen. So they juts got faster. lol

Arent the Ecoboosts already having issues with carbon fouling the plugs and causing misfires? And I believe they had an issue with the direct injection and carbon build up. They might be fun and all, but I bet repair costs outside of warranty(from a tuner) would be pretty pricey.

Ram will counter ..... probably in the 420-450 HP range V8 .... but they'll tune manage the **** out of it so it's only putting down 325 to the wheels.

It's sad really. Our current motor puts out 395, but barely puts 300 to the wheels. While the 365 HP Ecoboost F150 puts 315-320 to the wheels and the 385 HP 5.0 Coyote F150 puts right around 330 to the wheels.

The ecoboost seems to be the top dog engine option Ford is pushing, the 5.0 is second fiddle. The 5.0 is more direct competition to the Hemi, Ram's top dog option (power/performance fun wise), I think Ram would like to say the eco diesel is the top option, it does cost the most.
As said above, I would smile if they offered a nice power option in the next gen.... cause heavens knows, it will be that engine for a few years at least. Lol Make it a good one now.
