Somehow I didn't completely close the drivers side door, and it got rained in and on quite heavily. When I went to start the engine, the wipers would not run off, the door locks would not work, and in the DIC, I'm seeing a battery icon, and one that looks like a lightning bolt. Is there anything I can do short of taking it to the shop? It's a 2009 Ram Sport, and has never been in the shop for anything other than the recalled manifold bolt.

I think the lightning bolt typically comes on when there is an issue with the electronic throttle control. Im assuming drivers door was left cracked open and door panel is soaked as well as the floor? Have you completely dried out the vehicle yet?

You are correct in your description of how it happened. It just happened a few hours ago. I'm gonna let it dry out overnight and pray like heck that it's ok in the morning.

Yes, air it out real Good!

Put it in your garage if you have one, disconnect the battey, leave the doors open and run some box fans to dry it out real good. I'd leave it open with the fans running for a day, then see what you have. Hope it's okay! But do get it good and dry. You don't want mold in it and the carpet pad can hold a lot of water.

I had the same problem in my ram. My fix was the body control module. But i have heard of guys tinting their windows, and spraying excessive amounts of soapy water on the window when they did it. Shorted out some sensor behind the door panel. Sounds like thats what your culprit is.
Drying it out wont help fix the problem. Sensor is already shorted out.
That or the body control module. Dealer can hook it up to their computer and diagnose. Thats what i did to get it figured out.
I tried damn near everything.

If you have a garage, maybe remove the inner door panel to help it dry?

Well, took it to the dealership. They took a quick look at it and told me everything was working perfectly! Can you believe that? I went in there with my hands up, in the classic pose of someone getting robbed! LOL, I can't believe I got out of there and didn't leave a dime! The Lord was looking out for me!
