I agree, I did the same "test" on my coopers. And the milestars are way softerI could really feel a difference in tread compound when I felt your Patagonias versus my Toyo MTs. They have an almost spongy feel. As I understand they are great on red rocks out west where dry traction and sandpaper like rock surface is better for it . On our wet loose jagged rocks here in the east they don't fair as well.
