Hey guys, I picked up a 2009 1500 RCSB with a 5.7. I love it, but i hate automatic transmission. Is there a factory or aftermarket manual transmission that will swap in? I did some google searching but hit a bunch of dead ends and the same question on other forums that didnt get answered.

no idea if anything exists but i'd imagine it's gonna be a lot of work and probably cost a lot more then it's worth

Nothing that is bolt-in. A manual trans is a very custom job and has only been done a few times and the computer programming is generally a limiting factor in many cases. The T56 has been done twice and a 727 with Gear Vendor ODs but that's all I really know from the bigger HP builds.

yup, that's exactly what the other threads said. what it's "worth" is subjective, i guess.

thanks. Why can't American car manufacturers offer a manual these days unless it's diesel? it's f***ing retarded.

they simply don't sell enough manuals to keep making them. it's a bit easier pulling heavy loads with an auto too which is a big factor. the 2500 cummins has a manual option but it's actually rated for less torque then the 6 speed auto so really anyone working the truck isn't gonna pick the manual unless they just have to have it for whatever reason

^^ exactly. The sales figures for manuals is WAY down because the last 2 generations of drivers have not learned to drive manuals because auto trans technology has surpassed the manual trans abilities where before you couldn't get a decent auto trans.

You'll need an all out custom job. The guys at Keisler Auto did have some manual transmissions for Dakota/Durango models back in the day, but the kits were discontinued due to low sales. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Keisler-Engineering/224383866884

Manufacturers don't put R&D money into manual transmissions due to low sales and take rate. It's a shame, as I too would love a manual and many truck owners buy trucks for everyday errands. Very few half tons tow anything, nor do they carry much because they're just as refined as cars. That's where all the R&D money goes.

They're rare. My 2005 2500 Hemi had a manual trans. I ordered the truck to specifically get the manual trans along with the 4.10 diff gears. You might be able to source on from the previous gen 2500 RAM's

To be honest, the now availability to manually shift the auto trans really negated the value of the manual. I've always liked manual trans for the ability to specifically select the gear the the situation. I can, and do, now do that with my auto trans

Maybe look into tremec they make a lot of swap kits for older pony/muscle cars. My guess is they would have the Trans bellhouseing clutch linkage all of that but then it will be up to you to mount it in the truck mount a clutch and cut a hole for the shifter. In total after tuning and all the custom work plus the parts you have to be looking in the 6k range and that honestly may not get it done. You are right it's worth is subjective but I can buy a nice supercharger for less money and I personally think that would be more fun.
