Map update on 14, 1500 Laramie

I have a 2014 1500 Laramie and I want to get the newest version of the navigation. Is there any way of getting the update without paying $160 for it from Garmin. I know I sound like a cheapskate, but that's the way I am.
Is there anyway to get the update from a wrecked truck?
Any help would be appreciated.

I updated my 2015 Laramie last year with the official update.. Worst thing I've done in a while. The times to destination and routing is pathetic now. Almost unusable. We defer to our phones now between Google Maps, Maps on the iPhone, and Waze. Beware. Any one else experience this? Prior to this update no complaints and I used this functionality extensively in the 1st year as it was my work truck before I bought it.

I'd be curious to know what the latest map database version is. I've looked high and low and cannot find any history of what has been released or even what you are getting? They always just say "latest" update.

Don’t do a map update unless your Uconnect is up to date first, otherwise it will never work the same way again

Wow, mine's V1 on my RA3 so it must be really old!!!! But to tell you the truth, I've never had any problems using it or getting to where I need to go....

This latest update was just released in December too. So it's sorta recent.

I can tell you, don’t send it to Navrepair!! I sent them mine to do the software and map update, software got done, map did not. When I called them, they said, “oh, we can’t update Ram maps”. I specifically asked that, several time BEFORE sending it to them, the whole reason I did send it to them.

After the install did it show up as version V10?

Stinks that their latest version is almost 2 years old. I guess that's the downside of not getting live updates, takes time for them to compile all the map data and make a release for it.

i just bought my 14 sport with the 8.4 and nav 2 months ago. i have never had factory nav before and was under the assumption it was a fee based contract that i didnt care to pay for. upon buying my truck, the gm of the ram dealer i bought it from said that it is not fee based. it is satellite based and the dealer pays for it. i swear he told me that they pay for the updates as well. i have not really used it yet. havent had the need. i do know it works though. this must not be true since you guys have to pay for it?
