Finally got my 2013 Express RCSB lowered. The previous pics on the forum helped me a great deal so I thought I would post mine to help the next person.

The pictures above are the Mcgaughys spindles before and after. I had to cut them out to clear the lower control arms.

Pic showing a spindle installed with a six inch ruler showing how far the spindle sticks through the new hole.

Would love to see the pics of the whole truck. I have a new 2013 Express RCSB and would like to see the stance. Especially if your still running stock 20's.

First I've ever seen anyone have to cut the spindle like that. Did McGaughys make a change or did the 2013 suspension change?

I also wondered why the cutting- to- fit was needed, and why would McG's not do it?? I was thinking maybe because most drop spindles push the wheel out about 1/2", by cutting this relief would place the wheel in the factory position??? IDK...

@ UNBROKEN. I'm not really sure if the 13 is different or not.

@ JAMCAR. It had to be cut out to clear the lower control arm. I know my picture isn't real good but the straight edge is almost touching the control arm.

Spohn adjustable bars installed.

@ UNBROKEN. I read in your post about the squeaky bars that you greased the outside of the bushings. I've tried that with the synthetic grease provided by Spohns and still have squeaks. Any suggestions?

@ ST-8. It actually only dropped the truck 2 1/4" in the center of the door. I'm looking into cutting springs now. And yes it was a 2/4 drop.

Same here, first time I see anything about cutting the spindles. Now I'm kinda worried. how does this affect the structure of the spindle itself? Sucks cuz I'm currently awaiting my kit to come in as I type this. Should be in either today or tomorrow. :/

As long as the 'cut' doesn't have any square corners, it should have much of an effect on the strength. It appears to be in a rather 'girthy' part of the unit.

Still, likely something I would not personally do.

I had pretty good luck with silicone spray...doesn't quiet them all the way down but it helps a lot. I'm going a different direction though...reworking the entire rear suspension bars and all to get the geometry into shape. I'll be building new link bars with heim joints and a new panhard with the same along with new axle mounts. I'd like my instant center to be closer to the front of the truck....not 6" in front of the link bars. lol

ramittome. I agree with whiteExpress as long as your grinding work is smooth with no square corners it shouldn't be a problem. The spot on the spindle that I cut all the way through was only 1/4 inch thick. Take my advice and grind these things outside with a lot of protection on, I am still digging out cast iron splinters.
