You really have no clue on how they turn off mds mode in the pcm do you , this is like your theory the Pulsar "blips" the throttle to disable mds .
I'm amazed at how uninformed you actually are
I'm out , as i learned along time ago , you can't fix stupid , and you sir are beyond fixing :Big Laugh:
Just so everyone is clear here, MDS disabling in the PCM software is the option I used (sending in the PCM and having a custom tune to disable it)

The other way “most” people get around it is by using the gear +/- buttons to disable it.

If you looked at the shift map tables in the TCM you would see that they are different when the truck is running in normal “drive” mode vs “manual” mode with the gear buttons. All this is fact, look it up on the ZF8 tuning maps for your truck if you prefer to learn from someone else.

Stop being a troll and stifling the growth of the community with incorrect information.

Little tidbit for you , the way they're turning off mds in your pcm is by enabling "manual mode " .You seem to think they're re-writing the pcm code .
Curious on how you think they're turning off mds mode in the pcm , for $250 :Big Laugh:

Little tidbit for you, you’re wrong. How could they also change the speed at which this enables if it’s a change to manual mode?

The Edge Pulsar is an inline computer that can intercept and change signals between the PCM and the other vehicle computers. The route I went with was a custom PCM tune (which changes the firmware on the PCM) using HP tuners. That's why I needed to send my PCM in... Below is a snippet of the VCM Editor in HP Tuners where you can see how MDS is turned ON/OFF.

Again, you know nothing. This conversation is laughable.

Back in 2009 when Chrysler went to the Variable Vale Timing (VVT), moving the cam up higher in the engine block and not increasing the set idle rpm for more "oil splash" at the lower engine rpm and long engine idle times is probably to be more the blame for cam/lifter failures.

A lot of folks have opted to use better engine oil higher in molybdenum and zinc for a much better wear barrier between the cam and lifter as an "band-aid" when the "HEMI tick" rears it's ugly head. Others use the high moly/zinc oil(s) way before they ever get the HEMI tick in hopes that this type of oil strategy will help to keep their HEMI running for much longer.

It's still a gamble weather or not the cam/lifter failure happens, but using an better lubricant strategy, bumping up the idle are IMHO, the key to longevity with the current HEMI engine(s).

Also, Imo, the HEMI engine shouldn't have been used for everyday "grocery go getters" ... the HEMI is supposed to driven like it has been stolen and not like Paw Paw Skibblebanks.

The HEMI engine was an selling pitch by Chrysler for car and truck buyers and it worked ... well, sort of.

I have a feeling this Wild Guy isn’t very smart…I have yet to see him say something worth reading. Thanks Bmags though for thoroughly explaining this and sharing the facts.

Watch these 2 video's,they'll draw you a picture, you might be able to understand, lol
He doesn't use coma's,so you should be able to understsand what he's saying ;) :Big Laugh:

I'm still waiting for the reasoning behind the proper MDS disable (to replace all MDS hardware with non-MDS hardware) for removing/disabling/deleting MDS from the experts. Please enlighten me oh great and wild one.

Yep, I've seen those two videos and they are good for the simple understanding of the later HEMI engines.

If you watch the video's,you'll understand the oil flow path to the lifters, and how mds benefits the lifters when it's engaged.Little tidbit for, when you delete mds via the tune, you also cut oil flow to the lifters, which is explained in the video's.Kind of curious how you think the mds solenoids operate,as you don't really comprehend oil flow through the solenoids, and what they do to the oil supply reaching the lifters do you.
You do realize when you delete mds via the tune, you also cut oil flow to the lifters, takes oil pressure to release the pins in the mds lifters,so the pistons in the mds lifters collasp, which drops the cylinders, i don't know in what world you live in,but usually cutting oil flow to a moving part is determental to the life of said moving part. Why do you think Ma Mopar gets rid of the solenoids on an actual non-mds engine,it's so the oil supply feeding the lifters becomes a continous oil flow
But i digress, you're to smart to watch the video's,and actually learn something.
Like i said, you're to fast for wisdom to catch up to you, :Big Laugh:

The engine is designed to cut oil to the solenoids in non-MDS mode from the factory!! So the engineers that are responsible for designing the MDS engine have deemed that to be an ok mode of operation (by Tow/Haul, manual mode, etc). Clearly if it was a true lack of oil in the design you would fail long before the warranty expired and this would be a much bigger issue. Do yourself a favor and search on the forms how many people would rather their engine run below the "full" line than above it. People are likely hurting their engines for a general overall lack of lubrication, independent of engaging MDS or not.

Also, here is a quick tidbit on economics. FCA has separate hardware for the two engines because it's cheaper to build the engine with less moving parts if those parts aren't needed! By golly George why on earth would they put in all that stuff if the engine is not able to enable it!?!

So you figure cutting oil pressure to the lifters is beneficial then :Big Laugh: I might as well talk to the wall,as i get a better response from it,then i do from you.You smart like doorknob dude:waytogo:
Hey while you're enlightening me,tell me your thoughts on the hellcat pump upgrade ;)

Yes, cutting oil pressure was designed into the engines from someone that went to college for engine building. They worked closely with other engineers that studied fluid dynamics. Seems to me they would be a more credible expert than a random unknown YouTube poster that had an engine issue.

In what world does cutting oil flow to the lifters benefit them, clue me into how that works :waytogo:
If you think he's an unknown youtube poster, you've really been under a rock lately haven't you.
Still waiting for your thoughts on the hellcat pump upgrade, lol

As was mentioned by others in this thread, there are certainly benefits to changing some parts/parameters on any given engine. For instance, higher idle speed would make sense to me as an attempt to lubricate better. Any of those things MIGHT help SOME people SOME OF the time.

The issue I have is that you say to delete MDS the right way someone should disable in a tune AND THEN ALSO replace all their hardware. But, if we know that non MDS engines have lifter and cam issues just like the MDS engines, there is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON to replace hardware that isn't broken. If someone was concerned and trying to prevent the tick then by all means do whatever other mods tickle your fancy... but for you to tell someone the "right" way to do something because that's what you "feel" like (and leave out the facts) that is just plain wrong.

Holy fluck Batman, now that's a back pedal if i ever seen one :Big Laugh:
Glad to see the lighbulb is starting to come,it's mighty dim yet,but hopefully if you do some more research,it'll get brighter:waytogo:
Must suck having to admit higher idle rpm might help,as it was me who first pointed that out to you.Post #36 is by me ;)
