what do you need to change on the fly?, i have the PC also which is nice cause the wife doesnt like to do burnouts at every stoplight cause shes not use to touchy pedal, so i can adjust that down to city mode for her........ the kids say mommy drives crazy and does burnouts
Going from have fun driving to towing or city driving in an instant instead of having to stop and reflash/tune.

We have an active forum member that proved MDS is a hoax. Monitored the fuel level in each cylinder with his tuner; monitored the fuel with MDS off and with MDS on. The fuel level with MDS on double in the active cylinders when in 4 cylinder mode. 2x the fuel equals 2x the combustion pressure in those active cylinders. Causing unnecessary wear and tear on internal engine components.

I wanted to upgrade my wheels next month but you guys are making me re-think that. The Pulsar sounds really interesting.

Its automatic for me to run it up to 8 as soon as it goes in drive. MF exhaust and MDS sounds like crap. 29k more miles and then pcm/Greene tune with other goodies.
Just to put this out there for you all considering the Pulsar, read up on it. It can be hit or miss. I was a miss. I wont badmouth it because too many folks on here have had success with it. I couldve had a dud unit, maybe I have a dud Ram or maybe I am a dud....but it sure as hell glitched on me and shut my truck off twice insude 24hrs of install. Returned mine.

I turned mine off because it took forever to get up and go when it was on. With my 4” lift and 35” tires it took a lot of extra gas and forever to get all 8 cylinders running again just to pass someone or make a quick move. With it off I don’t have a problem. Plus, with my current tune having turned it off and the throttle response at 10% more touchy, I notice a difference when I hit it to pass someone or make a fast move. The little to no gas mileage difference isn’t worth it to me because when I hit the gas I want to be gone, not wait for grandma to pass me and then try and play catch up! I wouldn’t have bought a truck if I was worried about gas mileage or the environment. I want to haul big items, rear up some mud, and have some real power. Not drive some half engine slow ass POS. No thanks. MDS was gone ASAP!! I’m happy with it now until I can afford a turbo or supercharger to really have some fun.

Did you have the right unit for the year of the truck? There are different ones.
I assume you had the right one though.

Absolutely. Meticulous install and set up. Read through this forum. You will see where even some folks who still run it currently experienced glitches like mine or bucking and other weird stuff. To me, thats not something I am willing to chance much less live with. Even in the MDS off settings, it felt like the mds was trying to engage, like a weird burble in the exhaust note for a 1/2 second.
So I gambled, betting I would be one of the ones with no issues, I lost.

i went on my longest trip since I got this truck in February yesterday and got 22.5 us mpg and 26.4 imperial mpg so I'm pretty happy with that. (3.55 gears, 6 speed) I was doing an average of 115-120 kph or 71-75 mph in driving rain for a good chunk of it and I didn't disengage the MDS system. my trip to the lake next week I i'll be on a 60 to 65 mph highway and I will disengage it and see what it works out to. i'm curious now.

Thanks- I just read your thread on it. Maybe I’ll wait a while on it.

I turn mine off all the time.
I have a Flowmaster Outlaw replacement muffler and it sounds like ***** farts if I leave it on. So stupid with this "trying to save gas/climate change" ********!

My '05 GoMango Daytona rcsb,.........now that was a beast. 10 miles to the gallon and loving it. No switching anything to shut off stupid MDS crap. V8 power all the time. Mostly the biggest thing I hate about my truck is the MDS. Other than that,........she's awesome.

As stated in this thread and several others in archives. MDS is disabled by many owners for many reasons. For some, the thought of 4 cylinders dragging 4 dead cylinders, makes no sense and is simply not good for long term wear on the engine and transmission. I too suspect that the valve train failures in the 6.4 and 5.7 could relate to the MDS function and idling. Yes it is annoying to have to set the transmission at 5, 6 or 8 every time you get in or back up. My son's Ford 2500 with the coyote engine shuts off at a stop light. When it senses pressure on the accelerator a high speed starter starts the engine. There is a non discript button on the dash that disables it.
Thankful that the engineer's who were forced to design this Socialist Cafe BS that saves very little in gas, gave us a way to shut it off.
