So I'm looking at the Spartan+ and Performance heads from Inertia. My question is what is the benefit of having the heads milled? I know it raises the compression so maybe my question should be what would be the benefit of raised compression?

MOAR POWAAAR!

But truthfully, I have no idea if it'd be notable.
It could also create valve clearance issues.

Most times the heads are milled to make them as flat as possible. As WhiteExpress said though having an aggressive mill job will create valve to piston clearance issues. It will raise the compression a bit but not sure how much.

I've looked into milling heads for my project truck. The heads have a certain volume to the bowl, when you mill the heads, it effectively decreases the volume and depending on how much you mill, it increases compression ratio. I have a formula somewhere where you can find how much you have to shave off to get the ratio you want.
With old engines the problem with shaving heads is that for every .010 you take off, the intake also has to be shaved to a degree. But I don't think that applies to the newer hemi's, but I may be wrong.

I'd say just leave it, as pulling heads is extensive, and downtime is long, usually due to slow machine shops.
But it's your truck, do what you want, I'll find that formula for you if you want it.

If you do a milled head with that cam combo deff talk to Stu so he can get the right pushrods. If you run 6.1 rods with milled heads and that cam your gonna have P2V clearance issues and spring bind issues. Im also figuring since the lift on that cam is past his recomended lift for 6.1 springs on a 5.7 head he will suggest PAC springs atleast. While your doing the order get a new timing set from him along with a 6.1 oil pump.

Stu will be installing and tuning the heads/cam. I live about 15 min from his shop. I saw the option for milling the heads on his site. I was just curious to what the benefit would be

If Stu is having his shop do the work then you will be good to go. You will see a few more HP across the board raising the CR. In all honesty I would talk to him based on what you want the truck to do. I do not see a verter in your list so make sure you tell him you dont have a stall because that cam/head combo is gonna want one.

Was it cut for 2800 as your truck sit now or for a cam/head combo down the road? Will prob flash closer to 3 with the added power.

Probably the way it sits now. I mentioned a cam to Matt way back but not when I ordered the stall.
