MIrror caps

So is it my understanding that the outside covers for the standard ram mirrors are removable, but you cant just buy them separate from the mirror. I am not talking about the chrome addon caps, but that actual mirror cover. Was looking to get an extra set to paint to match, but that doesnt look possible

From what I understand the cover doesn’t come off. I was asking because I have chrome mirrors and I wanted to paint them body color or just black.

I read that once you get the glass off, there are 3 torx screws holding it on
