I recently changed out my radio 2013 RA1 for 2014 uconnect ra2 due to Bluetooth problem with crappy Mopar bt kit (mic stunk). I put the 2014 ra2 5 inch screen radio in, switched out the video camera and harness for an auto dim mirror w/ Bluetooth microphones in overhead. Bought the mirror video reroute harness from infotainment.com. Installed as directed. I put the truck in reverse and I get no video on the radio screen. No blue screen, just radio display. I took truck to dealer and they said video to that radio can not be done. Not an option for ram express. They tried to flash and update but they got no where. So now I am lost. I know the Ra2 is capable of video. I need someone who knows of or has had this problem before to contact me [email protected] with fix or suggestions. I am over my head it seems. I also have mpgrimm2 putting feelers out for anyone who knows of a solution. No I am not buying an 8.4. I am determined to get this ra2 to work if at all possible. Everything else works great, hands free, bt, radio, Xm... all good with new harnesses installed. Maybe a pin problem or RCA problem but I doubt it if I can’t even get blue screen. Please help if you can

Just to summarize here's what I also posted in the backup camera thread for Dave ...

Alright folks, we've got @Mac1 (Dave) with a backup camera issue that could use some forum assistance.

------- Background -----

2013 Ram 1500 Express
Factory Ra1 w/Bu cam in the mirror
(XAC sales code should already be loaded)

- He had a dealer install/wire in a mopar BT kit with microphone as an add-on to the Ra1 at one point (I'm not familiar with the install).

- Later Added a 2014 Ra2 (I verified PN), steering wheel phone/VR button, & AutoDim rear view mirror w/mics & mirror header harness.

- Radio, phone, VR, mics all work correctly.

- circled the uConnect site using the Vin of the ordinary RA2 truck and the radio is supposedly up to date.

------- Issue --------

- Added the Infotainment backup camera Reroute harness kit but has no video or blue screen at radio.

Kit is basically just a T harness at mirror header behind the pass. Air Vent with an RCA pigtail to the radio and seperate T harness at the radio with matching RCA pigtail for input into the radio.

- Dealer says need to add RA2 code to the truck to wake up the radio, but can't since it's not listed under his 2013's trim level. Supposedly verified XAC bu cam code is still loaded for mirror (same code for regular bu cam)

- reconnecting original mirror/harness still displays bu camera correctly.

----- Options -------

* He needs to be able to get the blue screen on the radio when the truck is in reverse, but can't. This is usually not an issue for folks that upgrade to Ra2, blue screen usually comes up automatically if they already had the mirror camera.

This appears to be either a radio issue (SW level or defective) or a vehicle configuration issue in the BCM.

++ Anyone near New London, CT area with an Ra2 with Bu Cam willing to test his radio in your truck to see if it displays the bu camera?

++ Anyone with a spare 2013-2017 Ra2 radio willing to loan it to him to see if it fixes his issue? (Preferably from a truck with Bu cam)

(Anyone have the latest 2014 Ra2 radio update you can share)

After that it would be worth someone with the AlfaOBD Software checking his BCM config. He's not terribly comfortable with poking around the BCM himself.

Here's the thread I use to track 13-18 RA2 PN's:

2013-2016 RA2/VP2-NA Radio Notes

... & the RA2 Soft Reset procedure

To do a soft reset of your Uconnect system:

1) Put your vehicle into the accessories mode (ACC or RUN) **For keyless start (push-button) vehicles: push the start button twice without having your foot on the gas or brake pedal**
2) Hold down the Phone and voice recognition buttons (or the volume and tuner buttons on your radio), at the same time, for thirty seconds
3) Let go of the buttons
4) Turn vehicle off
5) Open driver’s side door for thirty seconds
6) Close door
7) Restart vehicle
8) Let the media centre load up and see if concern is still present

If this doesn't work I would recommend visiting your dealership for further diagnosis. Let me know if you have any additional questions!

EDIT: Possible way to check the RA2 SW Version courtesy of @kad ...

I need to find out what version of software my RA2 is running. Before I mess anything up, is the below sequence to get to the Engineering Menu the best way to find that info? I've searched all over and this is the only thing I found for the RA2.

- Version 1: Ignition ON, Engine Off,
Hold Down: Radio + Media + Browse Butttons for 5-8 seconds

*The above did not work on my radio, but ...

- Version 2: Hold down Radio + Media first, THEN holding Browse for 5 seconds did

I don’t think I got the video interface module with my reroute kit from infotainment. Anybody else need a module for RA1 to RA2 upgrade for the back up cam to work on the radio screen?

Your should update this thread now that the dealer got your BT Mic kit wiring fixed

Did you get the backup camera onto the RA radio?

Yes. The dealer did it. Said it was bent pin within the infotainment harness by the passengers vent block.

I won’t tell you how much it cost me. Took a bath on that upgrade.
