Few updates. Nothing crazy.

JG .5 cam kit on order. From what I can tell the Push Rods are part of the kit. Message already sent to JG to confirm.
Just ordered an Auto Meter AFR and Dual Pillar pod.

Looking at head bolts now. Are the ARP ones really worth it? They are 2x the cost of OE? Will spring for the right part but don't want to spend cash needlessly.

Currently looking into Cam/Crank bolts, OE gaskets and MDS plugs. Hoping to confirm correct part numbers for what I need and have a friend with a dodge discount order them. considering price i may skip the tie bars. Maybe.
I recently found Garage Floor Racing in Dallas. Their kits come with gaskets , bolts, hellcat lifters, springs, push rods, and phase limiter. No convertor required, but I am hesitant cause it sounds too good to be true. All for just a bit under $1800.

Texas Speed and Performance got me a kit up here to northern Ontario Canada (isolated community) for $3200 CAD and that is for converter as well as everything you need for your install, including shipping! Only thing I had to buy was my oil, filter, and coolant. Now, what I bought extra to replace...
Spark plugs
Intake manifold gaskets
ATI Damper
Belt/chain
Tensioner
Rad/180 Thermostat/ performance silicone rad hoses
Crankshaft and camshaft sensors
Oil pump/oil pick tube/oil pan/gasket
Heads
Trans mag hytech pan
Transgo shift kit (updated)
Sonnax Accumulator billet positions
Billet valve body plate and gaskets
Upgraded solenoid pack

Redline engine assembly lube

I have no idea what I spent on.....lots over what is posted.

Owen Chung is the owner, and he had a few issues when he started out,but i think he's cleaned up his act a fair bit in the last few months. Just be careful with him.

If you're doing the oil pump with a new pick-up tube Lyle, drop the front diff out of the truck,it's only 11 bolts to get it and the axles out of the way,and it'll save you a whole lot of cursing.

He seems like a straight shooter for now, I am on the fence but it’s a good kit he’s offering at a good price. The Greene cam didn’t offer everything and I still have to source my own parts outside of the cam and pushrods and lifters.

Shop doing this lol. I just had the front diff out for gear swap at another shop. I have a 3” body lift as well so that should help them out abit.
The shop doing the cam and converter was suppose to install gears as well but the gears came early so I played it smart and pay the gears first and now I’ll just pay for the 2 day job ahead of me. Only quoted $1800 CAD for the trans/engine upgrades.

Only reason I didn’t even look twice at Jay’s cam.

Good news. Got word that JG has shipped the cam kit. With shipping from TX to Canada my guess is I should see it in 1-2 weeks. (hopefully sooner)

Next steps are to find a local shop to do the install and order final parts.

Depends on the price. With fuel and accommodations mixed in things add up quick. Although a visit with the in-law might score me some bownie points with the wife. Going to grab some local quotes first and go from there first.

Alright. Parts are here. Received the final piece last weekend.

Waiting on a local shop to finalize a quote to install everything. Taken them a little over a week already so fingers crossed everything checks out and I can get the truck booked in before camping season starts.

more to come.

Currently Dale Adams Automotive is doing a quote for me. If they take any longer I'm going to try Unlimited or Davenport. Really want the install and break in miles to be complete before June. Was hoping some experienced shops could knock this out quickly. Got a camping trip planned for early June and dont want the break in miles to happen with a trailer on the hitch.

Well its not really like breaking in a new engine with bearings, rings, pistons etc.
Most people do the dyno after a cam change & that's not breaking 1 in........LoL

As CJ57 said, there's no break-in with a roller cam Andrew.Stick it in,fire it up,and roll it onto the dyno,it's broke in,lol. A roller cam isn't like the old school flat tappet cams where you had to keep the rpms up close to 2500 for at least 20 minutes to break in the cam and lifter faces so they'd mesh properly. One thing you will want to do is get whoever does it ,to do an oil change with cheap oil, even mineral based oil,and once you drive it home,or put no more then 60 clics on it,dump the cheap oil and filter and put good oil in it along with a good filter.Preferably 5W-30.Mopac on 16th carries Redline and Royal Purple filters, not cheap, but neither are engines, lol
