Stage 2 of my alpharex/modifystreet 2019 style projector headlight build is under way. The low beam projectors should be delivered today (12/30) so I can figure out how to get them mounted and wired in. But of course we are having a mini ice storm so well see if they make it.

Stage 2 list of upgrades.

Low Beam
morimoto Mini H1 7.0 projectors
either using katana or auree led's

High Beam
morimoto Mini HB Led Highbeam projector

Added
Flexible Led Light Strip 2Pcs 24... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CTLFMZ3?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Into the upper and lower drl/turn as a backup.

I want to change the paint up but not sure what I want. I did repaint them because the clear I used gave them a slight brownish tint in the sunlight.

Are you going to try their optional bulb holders? They look cool and sure as hell better than fighting the stupid metal clips.

I see the Mini H1 7.0 is a bi-xenon projector....do you just not hook up the solenoid wiring and it works fine as a standard lowbeam?

I didn't order them. Not sure if they'd work with led's. The metal clip is definitely a pain. I may order some just to see.

You can not wire the solenoid and it will function just like the projectors in our headlights. I'm going to wire them in because half of my driving is at night on country roads so I want it to be as bright as possible.

I would recommend the bulb holders . I bought them when the came out for my mini H1 7.0 and the bulb shake is way less almost gone compared to the metal clip thing

May order some but they don't look like they will work with led's

Well hit a snag on using led's. The katanas fit but maybe too long. I maybe able to massage the dust cover a little to give some more clearance. But the locking spring won't go over the fan. The Auree led's are shallow enough to clear perfectly but won't fit into the morimoto projectors. So ordered a set of Innovited 55w hid's and a set of morimoto hid's to see if they will actually work. I'd rather run led's but wasn't impressed with the output of katanas. Also ordered the upgraded bulb holders

Got both low and high beam projectors mounted and centered in the "shrouds". Hopefully tomorrow I can get them in the truck tomorrow and make sure everything is level. I installed the katanas and the dust cover does fit over them. I did notice that these are "minis" so don't know if that is the reason the output isn't that great. I did test them and they are as bright as halogen bulbs. But will work for testing purposes.

The 55w Innovited hid's should be here today and the 50w morimoto hid's probably will be here tomorrow. I'll fire each up and see what they read on the lux meter. I'm waiting on some connectors to finish up and should be able to put them back together early next week. Was able to install them on the truck to dial them in yesterday. Probably going to install them one more time and tape the lenses on and get on the road to make sure everything looks good and the highs are where I want them.

The morimoto 55w kit tested higher than the Innovited 55w kit but decided to use the Innovited 55w kit. It was easier to fit everything in the housing. Weather permitting this weekend I'll do my last test with them (get out on the road and make sure I'm happy with everything) then seal them up

One thing I keep forgetting to mention....the noise from the LED cooling fans is starting to get louder. Not sure if just a bad fan, because of the cold temperatures or both, but one of them sounds like a sick cow.

I guess a + for the HID kit is no cooling fan noise.

Could be the temperature causing the fan to not spin as freely. Does it go away after a while or is it constant?

It quiets down some but never really goes away. The fact one is loud and the other one isnt makes me think one of them is bad, or maybe pushed against something or something.

No big deal...its too cold out to deal with at this point. In the spring if I think of rebuilding it wont matter because Ill go to the LED pods for high beam and HIDs for low beam.

Do they have other parts?

Would be interesting to order some parts to modify for new projectors then just swap them into my existing lights.

They don't have anything on their website yet and not exactly sure what they would sell. I just messaged them through their website. $10 shipped for 2 covers

Testing the lights this weekend is a no go. Raining now then upto possible 3/4" of ice accumulation then snow.

Finally have a "warm" day, of course in the middle of the week. Decided to take a day off of work to get these done. Just waiting for dark to get out on the road and see if anything needs to be changed before sealing them up.

It was low 20's here in upstate NY. Had a threat of ice storm that didn't end up doing to much. It's a balmy 35 degrees right now. Warm enough to work outside and not be freaking

Hahah hell no, only thing I would do outside in those temps is snowblow if necessary.

I actually worked on vinyl siding trim around our garage doors this weekend. It was so nice out I could feel my hands the whole day instead of them feeling like numb blocks of ice. Was nice to finally get it done so my garage looks presentable again.

For whatever reason I seam to mess with my truck more in the winter then the summer. Boredom I guess. Which sucks because I've never had a garage I can work in. Hopefully soon.
